  1. All the people saying 2017 was a brilliant year for games, I...am not seeing where on Earth they got that from.

    1. @katiekats I don't think I've played any big games that came out this year. The very few that caught my interest at all were way too heavy to download, and in general I didn't have much interest. Only game I'm looking forward to comes out in february.

    2. @katiekats Mass Effect Andromeda and Wolfenstein The New Colossus are the only games I've played that I enjoyed. Interested in Injustice 2 as well and that's about it.

      1. @gameragodzilla @katiekats They got it from the advertising, is where they got it from.  It sure was a great year for heavily advertised consumer-hostile games.

        1. @maiyannah @katiekats Definitely. PR determines game success these days more than actual game design.

          1. @gameragodzilla @katiekats It's why Mankind Divided can have ONE TIME USE CONSUMABLES as several dollar transactions that are good for only a single save and only usable once, and be a critical darling, and Overwatch can lock more than half the game content away in a gambling lootbox, but EA does the same thing and with DICE's Battlefront 2, and they're the Worst Thing Ever.

            1. @maiyannah @katiekats Yeah, the Mankind Divided stuff was really egregious.

Though luckily Cheat Engine works, so I was able to ignore that.

But EA has a worse reputation than either Square or Blizzard, so they get away with it while EA doesn't.

              1. @gameragodzilla @katiekats Don't know how Squeenix gets away with it when Final Fantasy All the Bravest exists, which is commonly touted by many games critics as the moment when mobile gaming was lost to the microtransaction bullcherry.
