To be honest, if you're using Windows Server for day to day general purpose computing for any reason other than that you are a student and Windows Server licenses are free for students, you are doing it horribly, horribly wrong.

@ceruleanspark just change it from focusing on background programs to foreground and poof! All good xD

@renovatedkitchen I'm thinking more of misguided network admins who do everything on the servers admin user profile and are then surprised when things start to go horribly wrong with their equipment.

@ceruleanspark oh. Gotcha. Well, I guess sometimes one has to learn the hard way in life.

@renovatedkitchen He didn't learn though. He just broke things, got in trouble with the CEO, and then took it out on me until I quit the company.

@ceruleanspark ouch. :/ I'm sorry to hear. Did you ever mention anything to him or his superiors about his wrong doings?
Friday, 21-Sep-12 06:43:54 UTC from StatusNet iPhone-
@renovatedkitchen There wasn't much point. It was one of those companies where people who'd been there a long time were automatically always right, and people who haven't are always wrong. The employee churn rate was ridiculous. New people would come, get abused by the established old guard, and then leave immediately.

@renovatedkitchen The only way to get promoted was simply to be the longest standing employee in a department.

@ceruleanspark An endurance course?

@ceruleanspark I hate those kinds of work places. If I could get away with smacking some of the people I work with... :D

@renovatedkitchen I have seniority over my boss. I had to undo three things he did in one shift.

@eaglehooves lol. That's funny. How did that even happen though? Or do you not meet the requirements?

@renovatedkitchen The university rounds out their IT ranks with undergrads, but the full time guy who oversaw the program got transferred, and now every student tech knows the job better than the new guy they brought in.
Friday, 21-Sep-12 06:56:56 UTC from StatusNet iPhone-
@eaglehooves lol. Do you guys call him new guy?
Friday, 21-Sep-12 06:58:47 UTC from StatusNet iPhone-
@renovatedkitchen Only when he's not in the room. :P

@eaglehooves ah. No union?

@renovatedkitchen I'll never forget the time the CEO gave us all the "Times are tough, business is down, so there will be no bonuses this year" speech, then showed up the next day in a brand new Aston Martin.

@ceruleanspark wow. Some people have real nerves these days. I would have punctured tires, egg'd it and everything. Wow. That's just so dumb of him already. To buy a new Austin and say that to his employees. My productivity would be equal or less than null by that point.
