  1. SBN exploding is brought you in part by the stupid 1.7Ghz Single Core 256mb machine it's being run on! Yaaay!

    1. @minti Wait, wait. It's running on 1.7GHz/256MB? This just makes me even more baffled by how my VPS (4x2.something/1.5GB) struggled to run SN efficiently. :|

      1. @bitshift ... How.

        1. @minti I don't even know. It was pretty much the same setup (Nginx+php-fpm+apc) too, so you'd think it'd run with the same general footprint.

          1. @bitshift I did quite a few tweaks to phpfpm to lower it's usage though. Like I reduced the child process from the default like 50 to 8. xD

            1. @minti @bitshift And even then it still explode with more than 3 users on at once. -.-

            2. @minti It defaults to 50. O_o

            3. @minti Honestly, that alone could've been the problem. BRB, testing something. :P

              1. @bitshift wait You have a vps? xD

                1. @minti I do. Paid $192 for it in advance for a year, since I was so happy with the service I'd had up until that point (and continue to have, to clarify), since that was cheaper than paying it month-on-month.

                  1. @bitshift Nice. I'd do that kind of thing if I had that much money on me at any one point. :p

                    1. @minti I figured it was cheaper than getting progressively more beefy computers - this laptop runs everything games-wise I still want to play, and anything else with high power demands can be offloaded to the VPS. :)

      2. @bitshift Well the free tier gets 1 Ec2 compute unit, which is basically "1.0-1.2 GHz 2007 Opteron or 2007 Xeon processor" or "equivalent to an early-2006 1.7 GHz Xeon processor" and it has 256mb of memory soo

    2. @minti You get free access to an amazon RDS instance under the free tier now, so you can move the SQL process off of that machine and onto a dedicated database server.

      1. @ceruleanspark Mmm, that would help quite a bit. I'll look into it! (I should stop ignoring the emails they send..)
