  1. @ceruleanspark . I myself LOVE the show, and see no reason to “lose faith” in this fanbase as I greatly enjoy its output of content, and do have a lot of fun interacting with other fans at meetups and conventions. It has been said that the fanbase is in a decline, but I reject this as it is simply a quiet period while everyone wait for the third season to premiere, having been involed in the fanbase since may 2011, I can say it was the exact same in the run up to the second season, a cease in official content led to a decline in activity, but suddenly skyrocketed with the airing of the first episode of season 2, which I fully expect to happen.

    1. @purplephish20 This was more or less exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for that.

        1. @purplephish20 So, to rebut a specific point, would you agree that the apparent increase in "drama" is more to do with there being nothing to distract from it than an actual increase in the fandom's drama content?

Tuesday, 09-Oct-12 09:01:11 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
          1. @ceruleanspark I honestly havent seen a specific increase in any "drama" aside from the recent controversy regarding the Canterlot Gardens convention, the last time I saw anything worth writing home about in terms of drama was the fabled "derpygate scandal"

            1. @purplephish20 What about the EFNW stuff?

              1. @abigpony Everfree northwest? I honestly cant recall any drama, unless im getting it mixed up with the canterlot gardens stuff, Im thinking the who purple tinker drama, as lets face it, useless as she is at actually doing stuff, shes an alright person and I dont like this stuff happening to her

                1. @purplephish20 I hate Tinker as a person and it's probably the reason you didn't hear anything about the EFNW incidents as she didn't hold a personal vendetta against the people running it. I believe there was an arrest there, but I know there was at least 2 assaults, at least one resulting in worthwhile injury. These cons are getting more violent, which means we're finally attracting cool people into the fandom.

                  1. @abigpony yeah, was a private matter, but someone attacked me at Buck and got kicked out, the lump has just gone down, the tooth however, has not grown back

                    1. @purplephish20 I didn't hear a thing about BUCK, but that's cool. I hope you fought back.

                      1. @abigpony I didnt fight back at all, I was stunned. tl;dr he accused me of making a pass on his girlfriend. She was mortified, dumped him.

                        2. @purplephish20 See, the way I heard it, before I knew it was you was "He asked a girl out, not realising she was taken, and her boyfriend flipped out"

                          1. @ceruleanspark No, he misinterpretted something that was said, I did not make a pass on her, I was there with my partner at the time, and led me outside for a "chat", then gave me a colossal headbutt, I fainted for half a minute or so. He was lead out by ben, a good friend of mine who also happened to be head of security. There's been a hell of a lot of drama about it behind the scenes and he's now banned until further notice from meetups

                            1. @purplephish20 Yeah, when I found out it was you, the version of events I had heard seemed a little off, because you really don't seem like the **** "I'll hit on a woman in a relationship" type.

                            2. @purplephish20 If I were you, I'd sue him. If he is stupid enough to attack you, he is stupid enough to be moneymilked because of that...

Tuesday, 09-Oct-12 09:39:07 UTC from web
                              1. @hakupony Can't legally sue him because.... lets just say we cant get legality involved because practically everyone involved had participated in some form of traceable non-entirely legal activity at some point in the past 2 days, however it seems I will get some compensation from the **** as ben (my friend, head of security) is in contact with him, and can really get things done

Tuesday, 09-Oct-12 09:41:34 UTC from web
                                1. @purplephish20 Wouldn't you have to press charges against him to sue properly anyway? It's a criminal, not a civil matter.

                                  1. @ceruleanspark As I was saying... well, our group is not like other random brony meetup groups... we've become extremely close nit, we're all good friends, and people live in close vicinity of each other. And considering the guy responsible for the **** ups is now living with a member of the group due to being otherwise homeless.... he's easy to get hold of, as in, certain people are trying to get him to **** off completely, due to the other guy being a complete pushover and one of the nicest guys on the planet, who would never say no to anybody. So yeah, its not a thing for any legal system to handle, but chances are I'm going to get some money off the guy. Dental treatment is expensive, remember that

                                  1. @abigpony And there was an "intervention" of sorts a few weeks ago where a number of people got together, me and him included, in an effort of some sort of "make up". It didnt work, and he's only succeeded in ****ing off everyone even more...

                    1. @hakupony "people who aren't oversensitive, spaghetti-spilling, self-depreciating nerds who don't realize that you can't be friends with everyone and stay a decent human being." I should say.

                      1. @abigpony I like oversensitive, self-depreciating nerds - especially those who at least try to be decent people to others instead of denying them because they are different. I will stay at my point - your "cool people" are just "jerks" to me.

                2. @purplephish20 I'm not really sure that you can call the founder of the worlds largest brony convention, and arguably the person to prove that there even was a viable ponycon scene "useless at doing stuff".
