                        @samshahan the show takes place over nine years. First episode has an Apple Family reunion, and in season 3 episode 8 they explain those reunions happen once every hundred moons. This phrasing is synonymous with referring to full moons, which are close to full months. So it comes to about 8 years and change.

                            @samshahan Winter Wrap up episode near the beginning: Twi tells Spike "it's been a tradition in Ponyville for hundreds of years." In the family appreciation day episode, Granny Smith explains Ponyville wasn't even a place that ponies lived until Celestia gave her family the land. So she was a child when Ponyville first became a place, BEFORE it could even have hundred-year-old traditions. Granny Smith is the Highlander.
