@derpy I used to be a paid political writer, so it got in my blood. But the previous election has NOTHING on this insanity... We may not have a country left if this happens. Oy, vey...

Hmmm! I don't think the Republicans have read the 14th Amendment of the constitution OR this passage from the Patriot Act: HOMELAND SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE/HSPD-20 Subject: National Continuity Policy (1) This directive establishes a comprehensive national policy on the continuity of Federal Government structures and operations and a single National Continuity Coordinator responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of Federal continuity policies. This policy establishes "National Essential Functions," prescribes continuity requirements for all executive departments and agencies, and provides guidance for State, local, territorial, and tribal governments, and private sector organizations in order to ensure a comprehensive and integrated national continuity program that will enhance the credibility of our national security posture and enable a more rapid and effective response to and recovery from a national emergency.

@roygbiv To be fair we were headed this direction for quite some time with the changing ideals of the nation thinking that we should help the poor and downtrodden before we solve our economic and foreign affair problems first, we don't need social reform, we need an over haul on the economy and to stop starting wars we can't finish, its just causing us debt. People like to blame bush and what not for the current debt but I find that to be bogus seeing as Obama has had 3 years to fix it, we have yet to see any sign of positive economic growth. It didn't really help when he Brought forth the stimulus bill, a 3 trillion dollar bill before congress essentially just after entering office, and hasen't even used a 1/3rd of the money. We need to kick out career politicians. They have lost sight of what their constituents want. All in all the government is a complete mess which we need to fix asap or face certain demise as a country.

@kingpopadopalus the US had a budget surplus before GW Bush took office. It was the tax cuts that eventually created the debt. You can't balance your budget if you keep lowering you income.
-
@elind85 That may be but obama has had his chance to fix it yet we see no signs of positive change. Infact he has spent more in the first 2 years of his presidency that bush had during 8 years, 2 wars and a national crysis (katrina). He had 2 years of a democrat controlled legislative and executive, yet all he's worried about is healthcare. Social changes have to happen AFTER economic.
-
@kingpopadopalus i don't think it was possible for obama to change the economy much, these were all gigantic things that were already going. You can't just pull out all your troops from a war in progress and expect all the enemies to dissapear. And having a democratic congress doesn't really do you any good when there isn't enough majority to pass anything
-
@kingpopadopalus I agree with you that we do need to be rid of career politicians. Honestly, the GOP need a Bob Dole to start reeling in the crazies & nut jobs. Sadly, there doesn't look like there's anyone like that now.
-
@elind85 A democratic controlled congres like we've had for 2 years while obama was president does actually, they get majority in house and senate and then pass it to the democratic controlled president and he accepts the terms. President obama did have a chance but he didn't take it, He tried to spend us out of debt. That was his first mistake, his second was trying to push healthcare so hard that it would lose his democratic controlled congress, the 3rd one was switching his viewpoints as soon as the republican congress came in, He's wishy washy and people only voted with hindsight in the last presidential election which is NOT a good idea at all. I do however believe bush was a good president in his first 4 years. his last 4, not so much.
-
@roygbiv I would like to nominate Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart as their replacements. Makes perfect sense.
-
@kingpopadopalus bush is a president who disregards poor and middle class peple and wants to discriminate against gays and minorities. I agree that Obama is wishy/washy he has been a big dissapointment
-
@kingpopadopalus You're right. I see Obama takes a Republican approach to the Internet. AND I DON'T LIKE THAT.
-
@roygbiv I am from Wisconsin and right now we're going through reelections. Lets just say that they are really throwing mud, I'm talking like bazookas filled with mud. Not only that but the winner is being predicted by the person who is spends the most money on the campaign. Lets just say that there should have been no reelections in the first place except for the senators that fled the state. That's just unforgivable, I don't care what party you're from or what message you're trying to send, you never leave your constituents behind.
-
@kingpopadopalus don't they all do that?
-
@elind85 again, a vote for hindsight. It was a mistake by America.
-
@kingpopadopalus @elind85 On Fridays I take an alternate route home. There is a sign by the bowling alley saying "The best solutions tend to be from the softest voice." ~ meaning that we vote for stupid ideas because they are sponsored / overtake the real solution. Or however else you want to interpret it.
-
@kingpopadopalus What's your thought on how hard it is to get the new IDs to exercise your constitutionally protected right to vote? http://bit.ly/psP01H
-
@shoutingryan Ever see 'Man of the Year'?
-
@roygbiv Holy crap! Now they don't want young people that understand change to vote either? It's bad enough you have to be 40 to be president... That sounded better in my head btw...
-
@roygbiv nope.
-
@shoutingryan Watch it, as it has that exact premise... Darn good movie, & one of Robin Williams' better roles.
-
@shoutingryan It's actually 35 years old and born in the USA. Those are the requirements. ;)
