The civilian population is to break all windows and glass objects and leave the remains in the open (a), and then to loosen up potentially dangerous objects (b). The elderly, children, and disabled are to take refuge inside the main buildings that possess a basement (c) along with a small group of able bodied ponies. There, they will barricade themselves and cause a distraction to focus the attention of griffon forces. @nerthos These pegasi are to create a tornado in which the griffons, due to their important wingspan, will be trapped and shredded by the glass pieces and other debris loosened by the population. Surviving griffons are to be tied down and mounted on a train to be brought to the dungeons to be used as a leverage to negotiate a peace treaty with the Griffon Kingdom.

@nerthos Troop and militia movements: Weather pegasi are to move from Cloudsdale to Dodge Junction, and when they arrive, the distraction in Appleoosa will start. Las Pegasus' weather pegasi will advance on Appleoosa while the Cloudsdale detatchment will advance from Dodge Junction providing cover for the Appleoosa refugees. All unicorns from Trottingham with a considerable magical strenght will move to Canterlot by the river and mountains, while the Elements of Harmony move from Ponyville to Canterlot. http://ur1.ca/ebrq8

@nerthos Regarding Canterlot: Since the changeling army seem to bludgeon at the shield from the upper side (a), the Trottingham unicorns will be helped to limb the waterfall system from the river (c) with the help of a platoon of pegasus royal guard, to then move to the central area to provide with magical strenght to the shield spell (e) the Canterlot unicorns will position themselves in vantage points and shoot at the changelings with offensive spells (b) and the Elements of Harmony, guarded by a squad of earth pony royal guard will enter Canterlot (d) and aid the battle and reinforce weakened positions as it's seen fit. http://ur1.ca/ebrv5

@nerthos I myself will allow the princesses (e) to link the Trottingham unicorns' magic strenght to the casting of the shield, and they will then assume control of the intensity of the shield, to weaken and strenghten it as needed to allow the changelings to enter gradually so that the unicorns (b) are able to cull their numbers, and to also crush as many changelings as possible with the shield itself. By the end of the night, the battle will be won in both fronts.
