@flamingpandaomg In the end I just rebooted the damn thing

@ceruleanspark all I know is the second the site flatlined I just set RDN to auto-refresh every 30 seconds. :P
Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 16:33:08 UTC from web-
@flamingpandaomg Be careful doing that.

@ceruleanspark Why?
Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 16:34:49 UTC from web-
@flamingpandaomg because it hurts the site. Too many requests.
Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 16:36:12 UTC from web-
@techdisk Well usually I don't do 30 seconds. Usually I do a few minutes in between.

@techdisk This machine can handle 200 requests a second. Obviously we'd prefer not to, but the odd person using an auto-refresh on static 502 page probably won't kill us.
-
@ceruleanspark I suppose the good thing is if the site actually pulls up, the auto-refresh stops. It only refreshes again if it errors out.

@ceruleanspark I remember using Identicurse on this site a while back and setting it to refresh every second. People angryied at me. Of course, that was a long while ago.

@techdisk well refreshing every time is a bit... much. o-o
Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 16:42:42 UTC from web -
@techdisk That might actually trip Cloudflares protection.
-
@ceruleanspark it was before cloudfare, I think. Anyway I don't use it anymore.

@flamingpandaomg As of this morning we use the cloudflare CDN, which, alongside speed improvements, includes "Suspicious request protection" for shielding against Denial of Service attacks. Once every 30 seconds probably isn't enough to trip it, but I'll admit I don't know what the threshholds actually are.
-
@ceruleanspark I'll just make sure to not make it too short in between. 2-3 minutes is more than often enough.
