@wollffey Very good advice, wollffey! Though I may disagree about ponychan. So far the only people to respond there have been us and your boyfriend. The place has become too insular, in my opinion. @generalzoi A suitable venue can pretty much be any neutral meeting ground. Right now me and others are setting up a picnic for labor-day weekend. It's just got to be a place that can accomodate as many people as would be willing to come. The timing is also important because you have to arrange for when a maximum amount of people in your region can actually have the spare time to do whatever it is you've planned. Another factor is cost; places that allow for big meetings can sometimes have a reservation cost attached. There's other things but this alone should get you started. Once you get some others interested you can brainstorm with them. My original idea was just to see if any Tampa bronies wanted free pizza. After collabing with wollffey here, it turned into something bigger.

@generalzoi: "But the only things I hear anywhere are just "To the moon!" and "lol derpy"." Well that's mean. But, I suggest you find the group nearest you first here: http://www.bronies.com/map/ and then ask to see who might be interested in a get together. Then, if you find that there's some interest, then advertise in as many locations as possible, especially ponychan in /collab/, since that seems to be the place where Sethisto from EqD looks for new meet-ups. If you're on facebook, you can also create an event for people to rsvp to... At least, this is what @tenure and I did.

@generalzoi meet-up I went to had a fairly large number of Bronies, we just met at the mall. There was talk of getting a conference room at a library for the next one. You can really meet up anywhere

@generalzoi Have you read any of the summary posts from other meetups on Equestria Daily?
-
@generalzoi Try to get an approximation of how many people there are in your local area first. If there's probably only going to be ten or so, you might as well just meet up at a park or something.
-
@generalzoi I bought coffee, but the only meetup I've been to was a very small one.
-
@generalzoi Organizing a meetup isn't that difficult. Mainly, it's choosing a place to meet that everyone can get to with minimum effort, getting people interested enough to go and everything else is set-dressing.

@generalzoi Nice.
-
@generalzoi Well, if you're still updating it, the ability to input hex codes for colors would be a plus
-
@generalzoi Yeah, that's pretty much it.
