  1. @bob I've had many usb flash drive failings recently. And I use them with fat32/ntfs. Even big brands but maybe it's Amazon selling crap.

    • # Council chamber has been occupied by the people.  There is much dissent in the city, over the running and financing of a road renewal program. The program involves chopping down thousands of healthy trees.  Sheffield has (had?) a reputation of being one of the greenest cities in the #  Also the contractual arrangements around the program are opaque and no allowed to be shared with the people !!!! ???  Which is another cause of anger.

        • @elomatreb @tom @djsundog

there were quite a few BBC Masters at my high school from 1986 onwards (replacing Model B's).

The numeric keyboard had * and # like a phone (for viewdata). They were networked, I coded a RAT using one which I concealed using the start screen of a legit wordprocessing app, a * would reload the (legit) WP screen (if a teacher was watching), # was the RAT control menu (it could even look into keyboard buffers of any other machine and thus obtain passwords) ???? ???? ????????

my high school was loaned one of these systems when they first were released (they weren't cheap and one was shared across entire regions).

the data was recovered in 2011 and archived here (pick any random bit of the UK you are familiar with to see what it was like 32 years ago)

          • Woke up to read an email about an art group that operated since 1999 as a Yahoo group is closing down and they will resume as a Facebook group. I liked reading their email even though I rarely contributed. Discussing art on Facebook? No thanks!

            • mcscx repeated this.
            • @lohan that's of course sad. It seems people today tend to choose the easiest and fastest and most-mainstream alternative. But that is a development we all and especially artists should try to do something against.
Art itself is not always easy and fast and mainstream. Sometimes art is complex and requires a bit of time for the recipient.
I hope those artists think about: "what if people were only interested in the easiest and funniest art/music? Then most of us would have to give up being an artist"

The tea towel is absolutely necessary, without it everything breaks.

I am serious about that, don't move the towel.
