@gdroid #org_andstatus_app #fdroid_app_comments Tip: In a case you don't see updates in #FDroid for too long, and you don't (want to) use Google Play Store (which usually makes new versions available in minutes...) you can always download the latest #AndStatus release attached to this post: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456

I created an issue ticket for #F-Droid lacking status health dashboard and being a black box for developers, publishing their applications via F-Droid.

In appears that due to recent #F-Droid build server problems #AndStatus v.36.05 build was not prepared for F-Droid users.
Now when v.36.06 has been released (and is available, as usual, here: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456 ) I hope that this new version will be more lucky :-) -
@masoud There's no need to free one's entire device in order to install the flexible repository of !fs that is #F-Droid ;)
Most people I know have already installed F-Droid since it's simply much easier. No hassle with account registration etc. and they get all the software they need through there. (and if it's not there, they can easily receive it from a friend with the built-in app sharing functionality even if the original source is proprietary and closed!) -
Why the hell does it take so long to update the repos in #F-Droid? The apk list is only about 4.5 MB, but it takes forever to download.

Good to see how #F-Droid is Bringing #Android Apps to #Cuba https://blog.grobox.de/2017/how-f-droid-is-bringing-apps-to-cuba/ Thanks to Torsten for the interesting writeup!

@nestort In short: As a developer I don't have any means to check this.
#F-Droid has some automated procedure that monitors a source code repository (Github in this case) and figures out, when a new release should be built. Then it automatically builds the application from its source code and makes it available to F-Droid users.
This process can fail at any step, and I don't have any "support person" to check and fix this.
See our discussion of the similar case of broken process with F-droid team member: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/326 -
The more android phones I see full of garbage apps and spyware-looking games, the more I'm thankful for Modding and #FDroid.

!til that #Fdroid has an issue tracker for package submissions. Yay, for no more crappy forum! https://gitlab.com/fdroid/rfp

A new UX 6 years in the making F-Droid has been a part of the Android ecosystem for over 6 years now. Since then, over 2000 apps have been built for the main repository, many great features have been added , the client has been translated into over 40 different languages, and much more. However, the F-Droid UX has never changed much from the original three tab layout : This will change with the upcoming release of F-Droid client v0.103. Over the past 6 months, the F-Droid team has been busy redesigning a modern UX which will help bring F-Droid into the present. Some of the big ticket items include: Screenshots and feature graphics Bulk download and install Ability to translate apps metadata Improved notifications for downloads and pending updates In addition, we have been redesigning some of the smaller, but equally as important parts of the app, such as better support for visually impaired users who make use of tools such as …

@bob @privacymatters there is #Antox in #FDroid, but using Tox on mobile isn't a very good idea sadly due to battery and data rates :(
-
@bob I haven't tried it yet but I'm hearing good things about #Ring (now a #GNU project). Not sure if it's in #F-Droid

You should get your Mastodon app on #FDroid. That'd be appreciated.
