  1. I have no prior experience in organizing this sort but if thing, but uh, here's a new MeetUp I'm starting.

BAMF - Bay Area Members of the Fediverse

    http://meetu.ps/c/3CrlC/vlXjp/d on Meetup

Currently testing it out to gauge interest. If you live in the Bay Area and want to come out and make new friends, that would be the most amazing thing. You are welcome to join, regardless of whether you're from #Diaspora, #Friendica, #Hubzilla, #Libertree, #SocialHome, #Pump or any other federated platform.

I'll pick a date and a venue soon.

  3. @silverwizard how do I find you on #?

  4. I'm not sure how you would know if your timeline is "too white" ... other than a few people who talk about their ancestry or use (what we assume is) their facial image as their avatar, a person using # / # / # / # / # could be of any ethnic group, from any location around the world.

That's actually one of the best things about online communications. I may talk with you for years before I realize you are a member of $RACE and $NATIONALITY or that you live in $COUNTRY. We get the opportunity to build relationships without all that garbage in the way.

  13. @paulfree14 why would you recommend # over #? Just curious.

    Wednesday, 31-May-17 08:25:54 UTC from quitter.se
  14. @paulfree14 yes, # could support # as a plug-in, allowing it to exchange micro-blog posts with #, #, # etc

  17. @vruz You're on a network where everything is public from the start, which designed that way from its beginnings a decade ago. It seems strange to expect that no one will index your posts at some point because of this and because there are already federated networks designed with privacy in mind, such as # and #, both of which are quite different from # and # @sina

A GNU Social-compatible microblogging server", "An alternative implementation of the GNU social project. Based on ActivityStreams, Webfinger, PubsubHubbub and Salmon.".
