I'm just wondering if service providers should be allowed to request copy of government issued official #identification (ID) like passport, before granting user access? I personally find that offending. No, I don't have anything to hide. But it still bugs me. Any thoughts in this group about this kind of practice? In some cases that could also invade privacy, if the user has selected to use pseudonym on purpose. #privacy #security #identity #some #cloud

Heard about sloppy reporting in Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter saying that the latest #iOS updates remove the risk for getting the calls tapped... Well, maybe it removes one easy possibility of tapping it, but the imprecise description might get #iPhone people to think they are now safe. Come on... #security #privacy

I guess the new C-Lion1 cable is the reason why Finland is now changing legalization to allow monitoring, intelligence, snooping, espionage and offensive action. It's amazing how persistent (RDP / RDC / RDS) aka Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop attacks are. The network banning application I wrote has now banned more than 1000 IP addresses and +40 subnets (/24 using IPv4 and /48 using IPv6). Most interesting observation is that large number of systems located in totally different data centers, as numbers and networks and countries are being attacked by same IP addresses. This means that some of the attackers are extremely active. This is also great reason why centralized banning which protects whole network works so well. If server network in New York is attacked from some IP address, it makes perfect sense to ban same IP address in London and Helsinki. First I thought it would be kind of overkill, but in reality this is highly beneficial.
