@littlefox
I am pretty opinionated in my choices:
#C - hail our Gods K&R
#Python - what I use at work and for scripts, very pleasant language
#Elixir - I am helping to write the Pleroma backend in it
Gave two chances to #haskell, it has failed me, now I consider it a meme
Hate #PHP and #Java. #JavaScript is bearable, but I try to stay away. -
Dear #Mastodon #Fediverse, we are looking for a #Python developer (back-end, #Django; front-end very welcome too); preferably up for relocation to the Balkans (protip: it's absolutely beautiful). Talk to me.
Please boost!

Every now and then I look at the amount of stuff I write in #python or shell and feel guilty about not writing more lower-level stuff in C, for example. This quickly evaporates, though, the moment I realize that I'm not as familiar with the standard library there as I am with the higher-level languages. Where can I get some inspiration to practice C or C++ in GNU/Linux?

#Python 3.6.0 #standardlibrary #hashlib also includes #scrypt #blake2 #shake and #sha3 aka #keccak - Awesome #python3 #python36
It's very important to have modern and compatible tools for key derivation, password protection & data hashing.

Python 3.6 dictionaries are order-preserving. I'm just wondering why there's no way to access dictionary items by index directly. When dictionary retains order, I would love to see it to be accessible just like a list. It would be quite logical.
of course you can get keys() from dict, or items(), but I would think that's inefficient way, if I know I want to access 5th item in dictionary.
