@mmn I've changed #systemd to #systemvinit on !Debian 8 Jessy. NetworkManager & Mate depend on systemd so I removed them.

@leonardo On my test box I chose Mate at installation time. It turned out Mate & NetworkManager depend on #systemd → I removed both of them

@larjona Arrgh, I get old ;-) It's indeed actually Debian 8 ( #jessy) where I have uninstalled #systemd and re-installed #sysvinit :-) @nawi

@johns I don't know what colour #systemd is. I've uninstalled systemd after 1 minute from my new Debian 7 and re-installed #systemvinit

@dennisgut when I removed #systemd I noticed Mate & I believe NetworkManager depend on #systemd → I uninstalled them without any hesitation

@dennisgut good2know.However I wanted to get rid of the bloat→uninstalled #systemd→ was offered sth like sysv-core or initd-core by aptitude

@nawi #systemd is !debian's default now,but you can uninstall systemd & reinstall sysvinit.I had to uninstall Mate which I didnt like anyway

@rebekacatalina arch is good, just not a good fit for my needs. Folk have got #systemd working in #slackware so it may come, but not soon.

Problem of #systemd isn't about what; it's about how; the way things are done. A technically valid solution that destroys community, bad one
