I think at begin only those who didn't like #twitter came. And somehow these were the #geeks, probably because they/we know how (easy it is) to do the wrongs twitter did better

Bei mir war der Effekt auch so: am Anfang niemand, den ich kannte. Bis sich separate Gruppen/Kontakte auf #twitter, !friendica, #identi.ca ergaben. Und irgendwann merkte ich, die "freien" waren mehr meine Wellenlänge :-)

missing #statusnet feature: This is not the first time happening, users do NOT know how to handle such scenarios. Other systems like !friendica, #twitter offer the (known, befriended, ...) nick: so in this case a plugin or SN core should offer 1. @erkanyilmaz 2. OR if this nick is not available on the local instance: @erkanyilmaz@oracle.skilledtests.com (known, from previous conversations on that SN instance?), needs to be more thought of when such nicks should appear (in dropdown offered to user). The advantage of course being that users would NOT need to sub to my account and because sub'ing is another hurdle for newcomers to SN in their learning curve :-(

my guess is that those returning to home base #twitter came also from there to #identi.ca (and used meanwhile the #twitterbridge) and after #identicalypse "just" returned :-( or let's say so: returned to where their friends still are, #sheep

Yeah, I just coded that #plugin. But - of course :-( #twitter blocked me now while testing out things, but e.g. bit dot ly and goo dot gl work nicely. Need to do it probably via a proxy then and there are more things to consider like: SN text limit, some users perhaps don't want this plugin working...
