I HAAATE that people at my company misuse PDFs and PowerPoint slides as a replacement for internal pages that could be HTML.

Virtua Fighter 5 REVO is seemingly a modded copy of Yakuza: Like A Dragon that is hardcoded to load you straight into the VF5 minigame… which means I can’t easily extract any of the animations to use for my mod. Everything in the motion archive is battle animations from YLAD, with most of the actual VF5 files being stored in a separate archive and using a different format that none of the available tools can open.

Ten pounds for permission to enter the UK? But I'm trying to lose weight!!!

Got myself 100 flower pots for super cheap. The kind of thin plastic and a couple of holes on the bottom. I got them for when my tomatoes have outgrown the initial germination phase. I'm only missing a sack of special earth for germination that has less nutrients to promote root growth. I plan to start growing mid February at the latest.

Normal human thoughts like "Do my eyeglasses smell funny?"
about 6 months ago from web-
@scribus Cleaning cloths have sometimes strangest odors. Whenever I got free one-time-use ones they smelled more often than not very unappealing. Similarly, the wiper fluid (with anti-freeze) for my car I bought for this winter has the nastiest smells close to the point wanting to replace it. The one I had before was way better and had the usual smell of isopropanol, which I prefer.

It's not that I'm not empathetic towards people who lost everything in the recent LA wildfires, it's more that I don't consider washed-up media influencers living deliberately uninsured in a mansion they know they shouldn't be able to afford to be "people" like you or me https://apnews.com/article/california-fires-los-angeles-water-lawsuit-548b08e13f256079ff0ffc4e7a9c55a3

@scribus I hate to repeat myself but, uh, the ground shakes and it is hot and the city routinely burns to the ground once every couple of years, and a moderately wealthy person in LA County is unfathomably wealthy nearly everywhere else, why do rich people choose to live there again??

Let’s say I have five million dollars, cash. Do I a) move into a house on stilts in the most expensive state in the country and declare bankruptcy in a year after being unable to pay property taxes, or b) just buy a bigger house in the DC suburb I already currently live in for one million and then still have four million to play with
about 6 months ago from web-
@zeldatra Even at a 3% godawful return investment fund, you'd be getting 150k a year from 5 million.
Just invest it all in a low risk profile and pay a mortgage with the interest.

It is somewhat relieving that the hardware requirements for the Majima game aren't that different to the last few games. My old PC from 2015 is still relevant!

Huh... There are no new roller-skates that can be strapped on regular shoes. Everything I found is old vintage roller-skates of dubious quality (rusty and disintegrating leather) and no replacement parts (especially the rollers). I guess I have more success making my own.
On a second thought: a roller might be better. Bulkier for sure but less prone to accidents.about 6 months ago from web -
Maybe I could look into acquiring strap-on roller-skates for the morning trips to the bakery. It's about 700m to the bakery. So far I use my bike and it is fine. The latest tyre puncture made me think of alternatives. Walking is an option but it is painfully slow.

Ooof... Dodged a bullet. BambuLab 3D printers are now unrecommendable. I low-key thought about getting one but BambuLab went full on locking down the firmware to prevent 3rd-party software to connect to the printer. They had in the terms of service that they would block printing alltogether if the firmware won't be updated. Now they are gaslighting the users that this isn't the case as they have changed their website.

@adiwan The way companies do that garbage, I don't even want to buy anything from anyone anymore. It should be considered theft, plain and simple - I had a tool that did X, and now it has been taken away against my will. If corporations were people, they'd be doing a B&E to take away my tools like that, and I would have a chance to kneecap them with a golf club.
-
@scribus I fully agree to that statement.

Yesterday I changed the inner tube of my back tyre of my bicycle because of a puncture. Now I have to change it again because it has lost air again. I'm furious.

Ported some of Haruka's moves to Lost Judgment just to see if they would even work outside of the controlled environment of a turn based RPG. Results were mixed. The custom basic attack I made works surprisingly well as a Light-Heavy-Heavy combo, but the first heavy juggles which causes the second heavy to miss half the time unless you're timing it exactly right. The solution to that is to make the first heavy not juggle but that seems not as fun.

The number of helicopters landing at and taking off from IAD was shockingly little
about 6 months ago from web -
My dad's neighborhood Ring network or whatever always has someone asking silly questions like "Why is a helicopter flying overhead?" and I keep suggesting answers like "Because if it went under you it would be tunneling."

@zeldatra Why can't you do something about that?
