I've been using GIMP for years for simple image editing. It was always a pain. It is still a pain to use. The more recent changes to dialogue windows made me crawl up the walls. F U GTK. It is a KRITA household now.

@adiwan So it's not just me who feels like GIMP is, well, gimpy
-
@scribus It was always kinda janky. I always credited that feeling to the fact that I'm more familiar with photoshop. GIMP has limitations but was for the simple stuff I did fine. Now all the flaws accumulated to a point that boiled over the threshold of any tolerance I had towards GIMP.

Kinda crazy that a tech issue at a bank can keep you away from your money for days after payday but you have no legal recourse because lawyers cost moneys

Skeleton crew ended and over all it was a really good series. The only nitpick I have is that it could have been 5 minutes longer for a neat epilogue. The ending as is was good enough.

I had a dream last night that I was playing Pirate Yakuza and that it came with a short side game, which was an experimental stealth/puzzle/platformer starring Haruka in a Tomb Raider-esque setting and now I’m mad that I’m not playing that

The fact that 9/11 happened in the Marvel universe is crazy, because there are a hundred super heroes in New York, and like, “why didn’t they stop it” is such an easy joke, but that might be the least crazy thing about it. The crazier part is that Osama bin Laden would have looked at this city that had a hundred super heroes and went “yeah we can probably take out a building with some box cutters and basic flight training”

Almost 7 years after my first purchase I can still find the exact same model of wallet at the exact same shop AND CHEAPER. I bought a new wallet as my current one is slowly deteriorating. It's fixable I guess but I won't give it much chance to last. I still try but I wanted to be on the safe side as I am too accustomed to my wallet and where everything is placed. One thing will definitely suck after switching to the new one will be that all the patina will be gone. All the naturally darkened leather and scratches from the keys. I could buy an already dark stained but in my opinion it doesn't look as good as a light leather turning dark.

Anyway, I’m fixing outfits now. For Kaito it’s relatively simple, I just need to adjust some hats to fit his hair, for Haruka it’s a bit more involved since she uses a unique armature to accommodate her ponytail. …I also have to put socks on every outfit. Because whoever designed Chitose gave her hyper detailed bare feet in place of socks on every outfit. Not a joke.

"Kaito wouldn't wear dress shoes to the beach", i said, just hours before Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio released a new trailer for Pirate Yakuza showing Kaito wearing dress shoes to the beach

The backpack I'm using for over 15 years is still holding well enough but I feel like I've grown out of it. It was fine for a good while but my use-case has shifted dramatically. Nowadays I use it for holding all my bike stuff and for some emergency storage whenever my shopped items don't fit in my bags. The stuff I have in my backpack right now gets more in the way lately because the items are oddly shaped for the compartments they are. A poncho, umbrella, small first-aid kit, repair tools, hand pump, tote bags, paper tissues, N95-masks, pens. I wish I could sew one myself.

@awl I use my backpack almost exclusively when I use my bike. So my needs are pretty much the same all the time. On good weather days I don't need to carry an umbrella or poncho but they will be definitely not there when I actually need them if I don't have it always packed. I hope I don't overpack. I was once thinking about carrying a set of new chain and hoses but these might be overkill as I would need more time to fix that than to push the bike back home.

@adiwan hydraulic brakes? If so man that’s kind of higher end
-
@awl I just have good ol' ordinary rim brakes that are attached to a bowden tube. Also my hub gearing brakes when backpedaling.

Maybe I should go more swimming. I literally live 5 minutes away (by foot) from a swimming pool. Last time I was there it was in 1996. On the other hand the entry costs 6€. It's insane.

Need to figure out alternate attire for Kaito in Hawaii. Somehow I feel like he wouldn’t wear dress shoes to the beach.

Great.... My mother's washing machine is busted. It refuses to spin the drum. Whenever it starts the drum twitches a few times and the program timer resets and halts. Also when the drum is moved by hand there is a lot of resistance and at one point it just feels like it wants to brake.
Now I have to help choosing a new one.Monday, 06-Jan-25 16:54:37 UTC from web -
Except that the White House isn’t in New York so in that scenario you could kinda just close your eyes and pretend everything is normal

@scribus You need to open it, disassemble it, and clean it with isopropyl or distilled water.
-
@nerthos And I super don't want to take apart a MacBook, lol, I will never get it back together again. I totally know you're right, but a 10+year old laptop with no-doubt irritating construction just felt more like a spray isopropyl situation in the moment

@scribus The just reward for the apple user lol

Opened LJ to look for moves to steal but my Yagami and Kaito are too juiced, they end encounters too quickly

i may have mentioned this before but for all of its flaws The Sims 4 does one thing surprisingly well: letting players succeed at hermit challenges. it's probably the easiest game to play without ever leaving the house
