I am thankful to Yakuza for bridging the gap between Zelda and Starfield but for now I must let you go

In a week I'll own a house! I'd be happier if the city wouldn't penny-pinch me. I had to pay a bill for something that the city should pay themselves: an investigation if the city has an interest in buying the house (first refusal right).

@adiwan Wow that is a dumb demand, but congratulations on the homeownership!
-
@scribus Thanks. The bill was 65€ for that. I will certainly suffer for pleasure of owning a home, especially since there was nothing done for over 40 years and has still wallpaper from the late 70s. What has to be done: New switch box (solar power ready), new electric cables, new windows, roof isolation, the wilderness of a garden needs to be tamed. Also when I'm at it I'll lay down network cables everywhere, at least CAT7 and glass fiber.

Ugh... I hate it when I'm scolded for being "too direct". I'm beyond doing the dance of pleasantries and politeness. I got an email and responded with the least amount of words AND added the most relevant information to the information request. I said that I haven't worked with Java in a long time and have no experience with Spring Boot, as well as absolutely none with Javascript and Typescript, and a correction in a shared document in that mail.

two or three unrelated straight guys have to raise a kid together but one of them is addicted to crack and is deeply in debt to the local mafia

Riverdale is finally over. It was always a guilty pleasure show to me. It was so bad I couldn't look away. The performances were fine, as well as the props, the cinematography, and the actors. The story and direction were INSANE. It started as a murder mystery, then a forbidden student teacher relationship, then a serial murderer, then drugs and biker gangs, pen&paper RPG leading to the satanic panic, insane drug cooking nuns,... to vigilantism, and in the last seasons magic, an biblical apocalypse, time travel, super powers, and then finally a universe reset transporting the main cast to the 60s with a mind wipe from an angel and then in the end giving those memories back. Do I recommend it? Heck no. Was it a good watch? Not really. Was it an experience? YEAH.

Done with Yakuza 4, now on Yakuza 5. Big thing I’m noticing about 5 is that it’s slightly more impressive both technically and as a game than Yakuza Kiwami, which released four years later on a next gen console, which is a bit confusing to me but whatever

@zeldatra I also think 5 is the most varied in style and tone and side-stuff. I really enjoyed the taxi missions and wished there were more of them.

Am I lost in the sauce? Or is the sauce lost in me?

In my Youtube recommendations a Babylon 5 video was recommended to me and I misread its title in a hilarious way. The title contained the word "Minbari", which is the name of a race in the Babylon 5 universe, and I misread it as "Minibar".

Very jarring going from playing as your friendly neighborhood loan shark with a charitable business model that makes no financial sense to just straight up a mass shooter whose first action out of prison was have a very uncomfortable interaction with the previous game’s player character’s 14 year old daughter.

Achievement unlocked: I broke my bicycle chain by pedaling too hard. To be fair: the chain had tons of wear after 1500km-1800km and already at its end of life. The chain was jumping out of the sprockets a few times. A replacement chain is already in my possession and new ones are already ordered.

I'm not really a big karaoke fan in the Yakuza games but I somewhat miss it in Judgment.

Yakuza 4 is just an M-rated version of Sonic Adventure.

That’s Yakuza 3 out of the way, would’ve finished it sooner but due to the way combat works it takes roughly two hours to do one random encounter of beginner level thugs

@zeldatra And no more "Aniki!" being shouted constantly.
-
@adiwan my completion rating is pitifully low because I couldn’t stand the dated gameplay any longer lmao. I’m enjoying Yakuza 4 much much more.
-
@zeldatra I know that feeling. It felt like a breeze starting 4, as if someone released the hand brake.
