Winter depression and being overworked is torture. Wake up: tired. Work: tired: After work: really tired. Going to bed: not so tired.

@scribus RIP

The one time I had a half-baked idea to get it out and make it useful again and it dies on me.

I dug up my old HTC Desire Z from a box from the move. I guess it is cooked. It was stuck in a boot loop at first but then it just vibrates 7 times when I have the USB cable for charging. Also the charging light doesn't light up. I guess it can't get any more dead

@scribus Not even if her name was Magie.

Dang it. I received my ESP8266 with a ready-to-go IR sender and receiver module. Somehow the IR emitters are borked as they are constantly on. Either I did something wrong soldering the pins or the module itself is kaputt. I have no nerves to desolder them today. I already was annoyed by finding an IR receiver library that automatically works with my TV remote so I can read the codes. At least I got the UI up and running.

Live-action How To Train Your Dragon is as pointless as those Disney remakes. The HTTYD trailer looks very generic and has no charm. Even the music in the teaser trailer is bland as stale bread. The only highlight was the hint of John Powell's original at the end. On that point the only hope is that there could be some dope new tracks.

Psychics and astrologers should know better not to advertise here.

I haven't sworn this much for a long time. The code of my predecessor was the equivalent of the most vile stinking excrement anyone could think of. It took me two days to debug and completely dismember and write it completely anew. The variable names were schizophrenic and the functions were multiple screens long, contained functionally ineffective and crash-worthy code. On top of that it used reflection and oh boy it is a pain to extract type and property infos and values and it's not as obvious on the first glance which type it should reflect and which values it has.

Watched Squid Game for the first time. Was good. Maybe it was a little bit too over-hyped when it came out.

@awl My condolences

12 hour work days effed me up. I'll probably sleep through the whole weekend.

I guess I listened too much Final Fantasy music recently. On youtube I found amazing Japanese people who play incredibly well on an electric organ called "electone". Like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_-HKoUO9ow and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cvF6OvobbA and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWqOo6kPuJY

@metaltao Ah nice! Landscape photos are always welcome. One could think you wanted to upload boob pictures (just kidding, I'm not interested, just an edgy comment for the sake to create a laugh).

My curse: being intelligent enough how and why something is wrong and could be better but not intelligent enough to actually do it myself.

@metaltao Welcome back. Image upload is borked for a long while.

Finally Deadpool & Wolverine is on streaming. My verdict:

@nerthos I know. My street has tons of potholes.

I'm thinking about digging up my ESP8266 micro controllers and creating a web-interface-controlled TV remote. Why? I dunno.

Ah... Projects that search for people who can do EVERYTHING THE BEST. C++, Java, Python, Bash. Everything at expert level and at least 5 years of DOCUMENTED JOB experience. Also at least of 3 years of experience in transportation and logistics related projects. DUDE... I can rather deliver a unicorn than these specific requirements. I'd like to get into that project, however the project owner is very strict with these requirements.

There are theories about a hollow earth, which are obviously stupid. I have have also a theory on my own: the hollow head theory, which shows more and more signs each day that provide evidence that it might be true.

Bought a new wrist watch. It isn't my ideal watch but it is half-way there. Doesn't have solar, the layout of the face could be slightly different, and the seconds are a little bit too close to the minutes and are a little bit too big without them having a sufficient gap to the minutes. Also the day of the week could be smaller. At least it isn't looking like some designer puked all the wrist with a design for the sake of being obnoxiously different. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71mW5ngdqdL._AC_SX425_.jpg

At this point the US is a third world banana republic... Orange republic.

I'm seriously questioning the intelligence of humanity. This BS is not a local phenomenon. It's spreading like a disease for which there is no easily applicable vaccination but proper education and ethics teaching.

Ah... U.S. election time. The time when the world is anxiously awaiting if the world will be f-ed up for the next 4 years or not. It's like groundhog day but with more consequences.

Why are digital wrist watches so ugly and expensive? They look like someone vomited all over and thought it looks nice. All I want is a wrist watch with a big clock, a small date display, solar-powered, metal body, a minimalist look. The watch band can be silicone. I don't like metal that much, leather is fine but it isn't durable enough and tends to stink after a while, and fabric is the worst in all aspects imaginable.

I'm not very fond of the Raspberry Pi Pico for the stuff I want to do. I bought another foot switch and due to the RPi Pico being considerably cheaper than the Arduino Leonardo I chose the Pico. I also wanted to use the Arduino IDE as I already did the work before and is easy enough to use.
First pitfall: The functions I used aren't supported.
But: There is a replacement.
After a very short adjustment in the code:
Second pitfall: Function keys 13 to 24 don't work.
This is for me not acceptable. I just ordered yet a new Arduino Leonardo because I'm fed up with the RPi Pico right now. Maybe I use the Pico for something else once I'm calmed down and find a good use for that.about 7 months ago from web -
@scribus There are some clever alterations, and some character backgrounds got streamlined and more fleshed-out, which I can appreciate, as well a character that got only mentioned in the games and is somewhat integral to the story has more of a spotlight. For me it's a problem that given what we got in the live-action series is vastly different in the core of all. I can glance over some things like Kiryu emoting heavily and him not being an ordinrary money-collecting Yakuza. It makes me want to watch the adaption from 2007.

One sleep later I'm not less angry and baffled by Amazon's Like A Dragon series.
