  1. @roygbiv palcomix is already working on it IIRC.

  2. So guysm I'm compiling a survey on the public opinion of popular ideas in fanon. I need as many pieces of fanon (NOT just something mentioned in a fic or headcanon... it needs to be something more than a couple of people think.) you guys know of. statements like: "Derpy Hooves has a daughter named Dinky." please phrase them in a single sentence and group variations together (example: "Derpy is a single mother of dinky, or Derpy is married to doctor whooves.") thanks a bunch to anyone who can help me out.

  3. @sparkyvelt any story can sound like any other story with enough stretching of the telling.

  4. @abigpony uhh, no, when she visited ponyville, she had to leave early on business. the other time she had to go save fillydelphia, at the gala she was required to greet guests as a formality rather than do what she wanted to do...

  5. @abigpony I'm just saying that would kind of be a copout.

  6. @sparkyvelt her own SISTER tried to take over the whole place, refused to negotiate, and by fausts own admission, if celestia did nothing, all of equestria would have starved because all the crops would die. she did what she did because in the end, her people were more important.

  7. @abigpony seriously? I mean it's a funny joke but I really don't like that fan interpretation when taken seriously.

  8. @abigpony they already had that moral with gilda AND Blueblood... I think it's best for everyone involved if they not do some cop out to disprove what most fans don't actually believe. it's kind of totally missing the point.

  9. I think the thing I like about Princess Celestia as a character is she is a royal character who is almost always doing something. It's evident she really has no time off, just extended breaks. She handles incidents in cities that need it (fillydelpha's infestation got her direct intervention.) and generally acts like a real soverign, yet she is still very unambiguously feminine. Most active royal characters are either men or masculine women. Celestia manages to be both a strong, active leader, and feminine.

  10. @1greg1 ... choose wisely. lots of people say party of one is the best introductory episode... it's not. especially if you can't get the other person to agree to sit through the whole episode.

  11. @1greg1 "so... do you like care bears as well, or other thigns like that?"

  12. @delc17 care to explain?

Monday, 18-Jul-11 02:48:49 UTC from web in context
  13. @starshine it would probably be best to provide specific examples. otherwise you're not gonna help your case here.

  14. @colfax I'm gonna laugh... from a safe distance... if fix news IS found guilty of this and all the hardcore watchers begin to riot over it.

  15. @derpyderp probably/ same name

  16. @roygbiv and of course all the viewers will cry that fox was framed or the FBI set them up and it's really just everyone hating on fox news and the democrat commies trying to shut up the 'murrican capit'lists for political reasons.

  17. @sparkyvelt could be using a proxy

  18. @nightwillow not all fanfic is like the grimdark stuff... I mean I think it's just fine, especially when within certain parameters. plus, not all fanfics present themselves as close to canon. some are explicitly "what if" stories that are just for fun.

Sunday, 17-Jul-11 07:55:48 UTC from web in context
  19. @sparkyvelt well, I mean some fanfics carry more weight than others. "Dinky doesn't go to school" for instance, seems to be mostly responsible for the exact nature of derpy and dinkie's mother-daughter relationship in fanon.

Sunday, 17-Jul-11 07:53:46 UTC from web in context
  20. @nightwillow hey, be nice, and fanon is at least valid input... it's just that a single fic doesn't necessarily dictate fanon.

Sunday, 17-Jul-11 07:49:24 UTC from web in context
  21. @sparkyvelt I'm not gonna go with fanfics in consideration for this. I mean, especially a fic with that much character derailment going on.

Sunday, 17-Jul-11 07:48:33 UTC from web in context
  22. @nightwillow well yeah, I mean credentials in place. I'm just saying that twilight is probably officially listed as some form of government agent. because she sure has the credentials of one.

Sunday, 17-Jul-11 07:46:31 UTC from web in context
  23. # so, does anyone else think that twilight is more important than just a student? I mean, she receives direct instruction from the princess, she has clearance to order guards to stand down, and at least once Celestia has called on her to solve a situation before they had to apply military force (dragonshy). if she IS a student, she must be studying to become something very important.

  24. @sparkyvelt it's far from unfair... they BOUGHT the rights to the characters.

Sunday, 17-Jul-11 07:33:46 UTC from web in context
  25. @sparkyvelt no, Faust does not. Hasbro bought the rights of anything she made for the purposes of the franchise. that's generally how it goes.

Sunday, 17-Jul-11 07:30:09 UTC from web in context
  26. @adrianbrony I mean, you can own both but it's possible to lose the rights to individual characters or aspects.

Sunday, 17-Jul-11 07:28:58 UTC from web in context
  27. @sparkyvelt that's intellectual property for you. you can own the franchise but not the characters.

Sunday, 17-Jul-11 07:27:41 UTC from web in context
  28. @sparkyvelt but not from hasbro. you have to buy them from collectors or re sellers.

Sunday, 17-Jul-11 07:24:59 UTC from web in context
  29. @sparkyvelt they don't make any G1 character toys anymore... the current toys are characters they own the rights to.

  30. @shelltoon is that supposed to be toola roola or...? I was under the impression she was G3
