  7. @scribus I think I have that somewhere actually. To be honest it's not as interesting as drama and videogames based on it would imply.

  14. Gran put her cup down gently on the table, her expression composed again. “If a leg goes bad, you cut it off.” She made a firm gesture with the flat of her hand, then picked up her slice of pudding and began to eat it with her fingers. “And some folk need killing. That’s all there is to it.”

  18. @critialcloudkicker I am referring to the oft quoted "Promise" that all the DRM will be stripped from steam titles if Steam goes under.

  19. @critialcloudkicker Unless it's in the contract and the contract is one they are legally obligated to fulfil, an informal statement "promising" a service is not binding.

  20. @pony I don't think they club the type of seals that prey on penguins

  21. @pony Plus there's the self sustaining "we're pretending to do it ironically but secretly believe it" PC master race circlejerk, which lets people feel like they're part of a club

  22. @pony Marketing. People will overlook anything if you stick a nice figurehead on it and offer them a few sales every year.

  23. @pony With aquatic animals it makes sense because of the absence of a "Correct orientation" underwater. It's easier to move a limb than an entire female dolphin after all. With elephants it's probably a matter of size and sightlines, and the duck thing is a really complex thing to do with their bizzare non-consensual mating behaviours.

  24. @pony It's generally a feature that evolved in species where coupling presented sufficient logistical problems that the males with "Greater control" were the ones who sired the most offspring. We've never had that problem.
