Think I might see the new Sonic later today
about 4 months ago from web -
Kaito never enters a building in Lost Judgment that requires him to take off his shoes. I learned this when his feet suddenly disappeared after I entered a shrine in Infinite Wealth.
about 4 months ago from web-
@zeldatra In the Kaito Files DLC he has socks on when he enters the Doctor's home. https://youtu.be/gAqdA1D9YJM?t=11438 I believe that they are socks and not shoes. They are very dark and featureless.
-
@adiwan His Kaito files model is stored in a separate location for whatever reason, I think I grabbed his base game model by mistake.
-
-
Also Yagami (and Kaito’s) entries in the party database seem to genuinely stem from RGG just adding protagonists sequentially with each new game going back to Yakuza 6; Kiryu is 1, Majima is 2, Yagami is 3, Ichiban is 4, and his yakuza 7 party + Masumi Arakawa fills out the remainder before we suddenly start getting LJ side characters; seems the ones who follow you around worked internally like Y7’s party members even though most of them don’t ever join you in combat.

Weird factoids about playable Haruka:
-she is capable of doing all of Kiryu’s minigames although because she is much shorter some of her animations are a bit weird, IE she doesn’t reach the handlebars in Can Quest. Not sure how easy the fix for those things is because although I COULD tweak the animations, they’re meant to be universal so switching the party leader to anyone else breaks the animations for them.
-she CANNOT play most of Kasuga’s minigames, he takes over for those. Likely has something to do with the game switching to his cutscene model or something like that, I haven’t looked too deep into it yet.about 5 months ago from web-
-she CAN however go to Dondoko Island. The only issue I’ve found there is that she has no voice lines for greeting villagers, although she does not reuse Kasuga’s like I thought she would; she simply doesn’t say anything at all, opting to wave instead. That’s interesting as hell. Pulling audio from other Rie Kugimiya/Xanthe Hyunh projects probably fixes this.
-When taking selfies she either starts speaking in Kiryu’s voice (when in Japan) or Kasuga’s (in Hawaii). Not sure if this is fixable.

Cities Skylines 2 is so great, I love how the entire town will all choose one road to drive on so no matter how many new highways you build they will all decide to clog up a suburban street forty miles away because they all decided that is the best way to work
about 5 months ago from web-
@zeldatra Such realism tho (/s(?))
-
@scribus I tested it by building a second “express” highway that covers the same distance and takes you STRAIGHT into key locations with no exits, inspired by I-66 from Virginia to DC where the USDOT did exactly that, and nobody took it. They all preferred to drive on the original. I’m guessing the only calculation the game makes is distance traveled and not “does taking this road actually save me any time”.

There are theories about a hollow earth, which are obviously stupid. I have have also a theory on my own: the hollow head theory, which shows more and more signs each day that provide evidence that it might be true.

Crazy idea: A bed that is basically a bean bag, except the outer layer is airtight. When laying on the bed the body sinks in and with an applied vacuum to the bean bag the sleeping position gets fixed. I don't know how comfortable or uncomfortable this might be but at least it prevents contorting oneself into a painful position. I cannot count how many times I slept in a way that made my back hurt or pinched a nerve or even restricted blood flow to my arms.
about 7 months ago from web-
@scribus Eventually we, as a society, will end up in a dystopia that is Demolition Man before cryosleep will be possible. I had a discussion with a friend about cryosleep. He says if all the cell tissue problems are solved that come with cryosleep then cryosleep won't be necessary. It means that if a method exists that repairs or reverses all the damage that cryosleep induces then there is a method for making a person live forever and thus making cryosleep not necessary.
-
@adiwan So still a kink thing, then
-
@adiwan There have been huge developments in aging reversal and prevention these last few months actually, working off potential treatments for premature aging disease they discovered what part of the organism codes the timeframes for aging, and they can be modified to force the body to slow or reverse it, thus greatly extending the "good years"
Current testing is on organisms affected by the disease originally investigated.

I think it's probably time to be honest about this: I have neither the time, nor the motivation to work on this place anymore. There's stuff going on in my personal life I'd rather not get into, so in short: I'm probably going to finally turn this place off in the next few months. If you're interested in taking ownership, let me know, but know that I'd only be comfortable handing it off to someone I know and trust, rather than any rando that shows up.

@ceruleanspark Thanks for all the memories, this site was a core part of my adolescence. Found it early in high school right as I was becoming my own self and still think fondly of it even if I haven't regularly used it in a decade. It's always been nice to pop in and see familiar names. If anyone wants to keep up post RDN my Steam and FB links are in my profile. I wish everyone the best in life!
-
@ceruleanspark Thanks for all the hard work over the years. This was a fun place to hang out when I was but a friendless kiddo dealing with middle school angst- don't know how I could have stood it without. Hope all will be well; if not now, then in the future.
-
@ceruleanspark Thanks for keeping it up for so long. I don't post often, but I check in now and then. Made all my first fedifriends over here and I'm thankful it has lasted this long. Gonna miss everypony.

Lots of people on Twitter going CRAZY over the fact that somebody got phone camera footage of Rockstar North’s lobby from the window and wondering how he did that. You do realize that’s a video game company and not the Pentagon, right?
about 6 months ago from web-
Like it’s a public street. The biggest threat to your wellbeing for a heist of this magnitude is campus security rolling up and telling you to knock it off.
-
@zeldatra It is as exciting as shooting a video of the entrance of a super market. What do they expect? Spoilers leaking from the offices that are behind secured doors to the lobby area by themselves? I got juicier stuff from the companies I worked for and that is already somewhat public knowledge.

Tomorrow is the day of the live-action Like A Dragon series. Definitely gonna see it with subtitles and original Japanese audio track.

@adiwan if they don’t dedicate an entire episode to racing rc cars what even is the point
-
@zeldatra Right! We, the fans, demand Pocket Circuit Racer! On the same note I'd like to see Kiryu giving pocket tissues to a poor soul on the public toilet, Kiryu trying to get a Bun-Chan plush from the crane game, him giving up on Mahjong, searching the city for lockers, and Kiryu getting lessons from Komaki.

@scribus I still have a background check in progress from Door Dash dating back to when I had nothing to do during Covid and tried to use my free time to earn extra cash with low effort gif work. To this day if I go to check the app they tell me my background check is still in progress.
-
@zeldatra Shady dude, eh?
-
@scribus it hasn't completely escaped my thought process that the background check shows that i've never had any kind of legal judgment made against me, not even a speeding ticket, and somebody simply didn't believe that could be correct

Poor ol' BlackBerry battery is on its last legs, sometimes shuts down in the 70% range if it's warm or I try running any media. Works well plugged in, though! So now the question is, burner phone or USB battery pack?!? :D
about 7 months ago from web-
@scribus my phone which outlasted both my parents’ marriage and my cat is starting to get there. Still usable for now but battery capacity is at like 50% now.

@scribus I am struggling as well with mine. It barely lasts a day idling. I have to keep it plugged in over night, otherwise there is a chance it's dead next morning.

Anyone claiming a smartphone or tablet can replace a regular computer is a delusional fool who has not tasted the power and freedom that a computer offers. I tried catching up on my tablet and it made me realize once again how limiting and cumbersome touchscreens are and how android is not making it easy navigating anything and its ecology is not geared to power users. Autocorrect and predictive text blocks are mere crutches and poor imitations of the feats one can do when mastering touch typing on a physical keyboard. I coould learn doing that on a screen keyboard but doing so blindly is verging on the impossible.

@adiwan Extremely agree. It feels as though smart phones and tablets have become ever more restrictive. I do value the constant connectivity, but my phone could never possibly replace my computer.

I think there should be a SSN lottery to determine who gets to sit behind the president and tell them what a real citizen really thinks for a week. And probably some other positions, too. Let's draw a few dozen numbers a week and have them really give the buttheads a thorough job review. Speaker, veep, SCOTUS, all the bigwig secretaries. There should be enough positions that you have pretty good odds of being heard somewhere once an administration. I foresee no way in which this would go catastrophically awry, nor be an unmanageable behemoth of a bureau.

@adiwan New York is the worst-run city on the east coast and it isn’t even close.

@zeldatra Similar to Berlin that is so broke that any official paperwork and permit takes an eternity and there is a high likelihood that offices are closed without any good reason, and most places are a cherryhole. I was only a few times there and it wasn't a pleasant experience.

Ha. Hahaha. Ha. Of course, of course.... I finally have a solid "maybe" on some part-time work, and they want me to install an app. It installs, but errors out during account creation. My old-ass device, or their bad backend? The world may never know.
about 10 months ago from web-
@scribus I have had a “background check” in progress for two and a half years at DoorDash because of an error on their backend that nobody has ever been able to help me with.
-
@zeldatra Yeah it's definitely backend, even the supervisor onboarding me was perplexed and had no one to get answers from. It was fun! haha

Adam Corolla's new series "Mr. Birchum" is the worst Family Guy clone not because of its right-wing politics, but because despite advertising itself as "the show the LEFT doesn't want you to see!!!!", and "too OFFENSIVE and ANTI-WOKE for mainstream television", the show itself is so tame and inoffensive that I'm left wondering if it was a retooled daytime Cartoon Network pitch that didn't get picked up or something
about a year ago from web-
@zeldatra Can it really be worse than Paradise PD on Netflix? I was instantly disgusted by Paradise PD. Also I never heard or Mr. Birchum. Just the name of the show sounds like a show about a family in a box standard suburb and Mr Birchum is the mostly clueless but well-meaning man with emotional and communication problems towards his family.
-
@adiwan I laughed at like one joke in Paradise PD which is more than the zero in the two episodes of Mr. Birchum that you can currently watch (on Ben Shapiro’s website, which I TOTALLY paid for and DIDN’T find it somewhere else illegally). It’s about a wood shop teacher (apparently it’s a character Adam Corolla played in his standup sets back in the 90s?) who’s upset about “kids these days” and is constantly antagonized by a caricature of a 2012 Tumblr SJW. He’s a lot like Hank Hill, except that unlike Hank he doesn’t grow at the end of the episode because the show portrays his “kids these days” mindset as the correct mindset. The first episode has him conscripting his students to do unpaid labor in his house and the SJW character is portrayed as being in the wrong for trying to get him fired over it.
-
@zeldatra WTF. Misuse of his authority... And that isn't bad!?!? Oof.

Got a flyer from the extreme right wing political party Alternative für Deutschland (AFD) (Alternative for Germany). It's disgusting what they demand like harsh deportations. There are many points that even contradict. "We want to strengthen the EU" and then "We want to get back to national currencies and weaken the EU parliament to the point it's even less effective than a paperweight made out of one sheet of paper.". Getting rid of the elements that bind the Union together is quite the opposite. Also they want to get rid of taxes. Between the lines they believe in trickle down economics. What a bunch of racist clowns.
about a year ago from web-
@adiwan The flyer was in my mailbox because of the EU parliament election. Also I got my election papers informing me where I have to vote or how to get the by-mail-voting arranged. The voting booth is in another Elementary School than I'm used to, although not living that far away. Gonna have to find out where it's located and such.
-
@adiwan I got one of these from my Republican neighbor who was running for local office but was refusing to state his political affiliation because my district was like Biden+20 or something like that. He encouraged me to contact him so I sent him an email about his frankly horrific and cartoonishly evil platform. I never received a response and now I get dirty looks when he sees me walk down the street.
-
@zeldatra It's sad that US politics is so extremely polarized for so long that only two parties are "viable" for voting. I don't know but maybe he was leaning towards Republican because of some topics that were OK but was ignoring the horrible other stuff and rationalized them away.
