@rarity Oh lord are they really /seriously/ using a joke slogan from freaking Team America as a real one
-
@ceruleanspark sadly, it's not at all a joke slogan in the US. It's engraved on the U.S. Korean War Veterans memorial for example
-
@rarity I thought we were getting past all that 11/9 stuff -_-
-
@rarity Really? /REALLY/? Are you kidding me right now
-
@vcgriffin not even close
-
@ceruleanspark http://pny.lv/dch God Bless America ;_;7
-
@rarity but is been a decade. there really is no hope.
-
@vcgriffin American patriotism is truly frightening.
-
@rarity Ironically of course if they wrote it in latin it'd seem about 10X as classy and I'd have no issue with it
-
@ceruleanspark let's just speak Latin
-
@rarity I was nive enough at the time of 9/11 to hope that it world wake America up to its own history of atrocities, but I was too young to see that fear wins elections and sells guns. Maybe its because America has never truly lost a war and only 'withdrawn' from conflicts over seas. Maybe it needs to loose a war at home that has a true impact on the people to see what suffering the military industrial complex reeks on others.
-
@vcgriffin we did. it's called 1812. and the civil war.
-
@vcgriffin *well I am definitely on a list now
-
@vcgriffin have fun with that
-
@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual on the upside, we won the Civil War also
-
@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual yea but those wars were mostly against themselves, and imbelled with patriotic zeal from the first shot.
-
@vcgriffin You say that like everybody who was born on American soil is genuinely a bad person.
-
@rarity However, I'm aware it's not the same everywhere.
-
@mrmattimation That is neither what I said nor what I meant
-
@rarity we lost the civil war because we fought it in the first place
-
@vcgriffin that doesn't change we lost them. We also lost Vietnam and anyone who says otherwise is lying to myself
-
@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual Ah the same with every civil war ever fought.
-
@awlditzy there's never a winner to a civil war
-
@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual that's the joke
-
@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual You lost against yourselves. As for Vietnam, it has been both conveniently airbrushed out from history and was a far away war which never really impacted upon the home populace.
-
@vcgriffin You said that we needed to lose a war on the homefront. Do you know what that entails? Another country has not attacked American soil since Pearl Harbor, and I'm guessing that's primarily because Japan was nuked shortly after. A war occurring on American soil would either be a second Civil War, or the start of a third world war.
-
@vcgriffin airbrushed out from history? Are you from America?
-
@mrmattimation exactly. because America cannot control its own imperialist ambition it will end badly. But I don't see it changing any other way any time soon. Hell my own countries economy basically survives off the Military. But at least over hear its not just the loony left who thing bombing for peace works
-
@vcgriffin I see that you aren't. I'll let you know that at least in America Vietnam is not a forgotten war in the slightest. We still remember it very well
-
@vcgriffin You know nothing of American military, do you? We've been trying to pull out of every country we've gone into for the past 6 years.
-
@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual not from your external actions, your news networks, or your media
-
@mrmattimation Pfffft. You still have troops in Germany protecting from WWII, if they haven't come home I don't think any of the others are going to be coming home nay time soon
-
@vcgriffin As someone from America I'll have you know we are very VERY aware of the Vietnam war. America thinks of Vietnam every time anything about "going to war" pops up all they talk about is "America is wary of war because of Vietnam" we remember it very well. Also speaking from a military standpoint we also talk A LOT about Vietnam
-
@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual "America is wary of war because of Vietnam" anything to back that one up?
-
@vcgriffin I would, but not at 3 am I don't
-
@vcgriffin A) So do you, and B) Germany serves as a middle ground for several other countries, primarily the ones in Asia.
-
@mrmattimation the ones you still want to invade? have invaded or got your fingers burnt in?
-
@vcgriffin On top of this, we have very minimal troops in Germany. Most of them have left. The ones still there are there because of NATO.
-
@mrmattimation ah Nato, protecting us all from the commies behind the Berlin wall. Wait? what?
-
@vcgriffin Hey, look, I know you're an anti-American conspiracy theorist whose primary goal in life is to alert everybody that America as terrible, the NSA is watching you, and that you like to brag about how many government lists you're on, but can you... NOT, be that? I feel like you would get along with people much better.
-
@vcgriffin it'd serve to protect small countries against Russia if it could get off it's arse.
-
@mrmattimation Coming from you? Just because you disagree with his world view doesn't mean you can just contain it.
-
@scoot That was a low blow. I know I'm an unlikable person, I know that a lot of people here, yourself included, hate me, I know that I'm wrong most of the time, and I know that I can't contain his world views. Just giving him a bit of -friendly- advice.
-
@mrmattimation Your "friendly" advice was "Stop being interesting in things you're interested in because I don't like it". Gotcha.
-
Rainbow Strawman Network
-
@mrmattimation Theres verry few things RDN will engage people on and not go into total meltdown. I don't have artistic creative ability, or programming prowess. I kinda just have my fire-breathing left wing anorak and a stack of leaked and ignored historical evidence. I go with what I can use.
-
@redenchilada How else was I supposed to read that notice? Enlighten me. It looks like he's saying vcgriffin has to stop being himself because some users don't like it.
-
@scoot You're picking fights with him, Scoot.
-
@redenchilada I am actually just tired of vcgriffin getting this response every time he says anything.
-
@scoot This is the first time I've seen something like that said toward him.
-
@redenchilada This is about the 3rd or 4th time I've seen it.
-
@scoot its fine, honest. I'll find some safe debating ground at some point. I'ts not like its going to be like last time, I actually have work to keep me busy, I just try and pipe up when I get a chance.
-
@vcgriffin I know but it's frustrating that people just block you out and demand you stop voicing your opinion when it's just as valid as any other.
-
@redenchilada Scoot is right on this one.
-
@scoot Has he complained about it before? If he has then okay, ignore me, but if not then the white knighting is kind of annoying.
-
@redenchilada Don't. Let it happen. I'm the one picking fights, I deserve any berating I get.
-
@scoot yea I know, but in the old fault analysis. the only thing I can do is change. Maybe I will learn at some stage.
-
@vcgriffin Has someone been reading Harry Potter fanfiction again?
-
@redenchilada http://pny.lv/dcp and yes he has, he literally left the site on account of it in the past. You clearly lack the relevant information to prove I'm making a fuss out of nothing, I suggest you stop trying to prove me wrong at every turn.
-
@scoot Fine, then. Nice to see you still have no respect for any points I might be trying to make, anyway
-
@ceruleanspark I thought I nicked that off you. I have too Much fallout equestria to read. (but the HP thing is on the list, somewhere)
-
@vcgriffin I nicked it off Harry.
-
@scoot Its ok. I may have overreacted that time. Its in the past now anyway. I try and only post when I think it will be safe though ...
-
@vcgriffin Sorry for bringing that up, it's fine. The fact that you feel the need to wait for safe moments to talk on RDN speaks volumes I think.
-
@scoot Its ok. Appreciated. Though it seems you get more grief trying to stick up for people than the initial topic ever does. Feel bad about that myself.
-
@vcgriffin Nah it's fine, 90% of everything I say seems controversial to some degree. I've just gotten used to it. Don't worry about me :)
-
@scoot Seems we often step into the same stream. Maybe we need a bride or a boat.
-
@vcgriffin I think I can manage without either, but yeah I guess that's why I empathise with your issue talking on RDN so much.
