                  @metaltao A falsetto is basically the register that's ~an octave above your modal voice (aka the frequency of your speaking voice). It basically involves using certain edges of the vocal cords to produce a higher pitch, but it has less overtones and dynamic.

                                                          @metaltao But yes, LOTS of conifers up here, I have a massive evergreen in my front yard. Though we get deciduous trees up here too. Also, on the topic of the carboniferous era, you might be interested in one of my favourite arthropods from it, the massive athropleura (ancestor of the modern millipede) http://www.prehistoric-wildlife.com/images/species/a/arthropleura-size.jpg Surprisingly though, they were actually vegetarians.
