  1. The voice actress of Dexter dies and a teenage trans girl is driven to suicide. We get it 2014, you're a bad year, it's time to stop, rest in rip.

    1. @ellistia IMO this is liek the worst year since 2009

      1. @mushi yeah, I remember 2009 being crappy, though I can't really remember why, besides Michael Jackson's death.

        1. @ellistia i dont really beggin to care for michael jackson, it was simply a personally bad year

    2. @ellistia At least 2014 was a pretty good year in music, or I thought it was anyway.

      1. @northernnarwhal It was insufferable, if you're stuck in a room with someone who plays Top 40 radio. :p

        1. @scribus I guess as someone who follows a lot of more "underground" scenes I thought a strong handful of great records came out this year.

          1. @northernnarwhal I don't doubt that. Mainstream sucked more than it has in a decade, though.

            1. @scribus Yeah, but almost all of it is disposable garbage anyway.

              1. @northernnarwhal Yeah, but it's like it used to be relatively dry and non-toxic garbage, and now everything is used needles or diapers or last year's Christmas meal.

                1. @scribus Not much we can do about it, sadly :( I just try not to pay a lot of attention

                  1. @northernnarwhal I tried so hard to get power metal to catch on. :-(

                    1. @scribus Hey, there's always 2015! Or you know, worst case scenario you just enjoy it all for yourself eh?

                      1. @northernnarwhal Oh, I already do. You bet your sweet ass I already do.

                        1. @scribus Good man. That's what I do with all my favourite unappreciated genres, anyway.

      2. @northernnarwhal I suppose I wouldn't really know, not being a huge music enthusiast. Though I guess one of my favourite bands did bring out a pretty good album.

Wednesday, 31-Dec-14 21:04:40 UTC from web
        1. @ellistia Yeah, I think I would probably consider myself a music enthusiast of sorts. Or at the very least I love to listen to music and I'll honestly try anything. I'm a pretty avid fan of vinyl records too and have a decent sized collection I'm pretty proud of. Who is the band in question you're talking about? Chances are I'm at least familiar with them.

Wednesday, 31-Dec-14 21:13:48 UTC from web
          1. @northernnarwhal Dragonforce. And with my other favourite bands being pretty much just Metallica, Megadeth, Muse, Dream Theater and Queen, and only bothering to listen to 1-3 albums from each of them, you can tell I'm not one to venture :P

            1. @ellistia Metropolis Part 2, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence and Octavarium

              1. @ceruleanspark I actually generally regard Awake as my favourite Dream Theater record

                1. @northernnarwhal Metropolis is a masterpiece though.

                  1. @ceruleanspark Metropolis is a great record, I've just always enjoyed Awake the most because it's arguably their darkest record.

              2. @ceruleanspark The only one I've listened to properly is Systematic Chaos, but I've heard a bit of Octavarium as well.

Wednesday, 31-Dec-14 21:34:28 UTC from web
                1. @ellistia Six Degrees was my first, then Octavarium, and then because I was interested in their old stuff, I listened to Metropolis Part 2 and it blew my mind. Like, I had to turn off my iPod and stare blankly into the sunset for several hours afterwards.

                  1. @ceruleanspark Wow, I never noticed it takes several hours for the sun to set where you live

                        1. @thelastgherkin You know, I probably would out of sheer curiosity

                  2. @ceruleanspark I'll have to get round to them at some point, when I feeling like making the effort to acquire them.

Wednesday, 31-Dec-14 21:46:06 UTC from web
            2. @ellistia I'm familiar with all those groups, I've actually seen Dream Theater live before, they put on a pretty good show.

Wednesday, 31-Dec-14 21:23:22 UTC from web
              1. @northernnarwhal I've never been to a concert so perhaps I should make that some sort of goal for next year. Dragonforce are based in London so I've missed out on seeing them for pretty much no reason. Though part of me wants to prioritise seeing Muse since I've heard/seen that their shows are pretty great.

Wednesday, 31-Dec-14 21:32:20 UTC from web
                1. @ellistia I know that feeling. BADBADNOTGOOD are based in Toronto and I've yet too see them live, which is something I still curse myself for and hope to remedy in 2015. I've never been to a Muse show myself but I've also heard pretty good things about them. Not sure if I'd personally see them live as of right now but if you're a fan of them then it's probably worth your money.

    3. @ellistia well it was more towards the end of 2014 that I started to see that it was a bad year
