@darkw00d On the 23rd of April This year, ubuntu 15.04 "vivid verded" will be released. It has a simular interface to ubuntu touch and if usb-connected to a ubuntu phone you can run some apps on your desktop (like terminal, calculator...). Ubuntu and ubuntu touch are both free and look like/better than Mac OS and iOS. Which makes the problem: how to install ubuntu touch on iphone or ipad. Apple's OS' are closed operating systems. But there is cydia/jailbreak. There was/is a app on cydia named 'open iboot'. With that on, you can run custom operating systems like debian or something. But it is only compatible on old iphone, ipod and ipad versions and the project behind open iboot retired. So it's not clear if we will see ubuntu touch running on apple devices lately.

@darkw00d You can also turn your android phone (if you have on) into a ubuntu phone. But you need for that a computer running ubuntu.

@darkw00d you can download an app called Ubuntu dual-boot. It generates a second partition on your phone memory. But it's like virtual box. I'm trying to figure it out how to dual boot your phone without always booting to android. Android is also Linux so, I will figure it out.
