      1. @rednorth Try $20,000, at LEAST, and even I think that's being extremely generous. Animation is expensive.

          1. @rednorth $20,000 is actually basically nothing. You can't even live decently on that much money.

              2. @rednorth I mean absolutely, but it's still way more than fair for 30 minutes. With that kind of deal, the animator would actually be getting shafted in the end. Let's say you're animating at about 12 frames per second, which is the standard in this business. Most animators actually end up only drawing between 7 to 10 frames because of holds and such, so let's say you end up drawing an average of 9 frames for every second of animation. That would be about 540 unique drawings for every minutes. Now, multiply that by 30 minutes? Rounding that up to account for extremes and unusually fast movements, and you've got 875,000 unique drawings. And that's only accounting for animations where only one character or object is moving at all times. Bring that number up and you're looking at millions of unique drawings.

                1. @mrmattimation on average a 3 minute animation will take up roughly 10,000 frames (if it runs at 30fps) like most of the ones ive seen

                  1. @rednorth 2D animation is usually done at 12 frames per second. (Film runs at about 24 frames per second, so the same image is usually played twice to get an effective 12 frames.)

                    1. @mrmattimation yeah double framing is pretty common

                      1. @rednorth I am aware. I've been doing this a long time.

            2. @mrmattimation Wait wait... living for how long on that money? What kind of time are we talking about?

              1. @nerthos About a year? $20K over here is a lot less livable than it would be in, say, Florida, though, so I guess it depends on where you are.

                1. @mrmattimation Oh, yeah, it's way too little for a year. Thought you were talking about a shorter amount of time.
