    1. @mrmattimation Ha, you don't know the half of it. You should try out my audio post-production class.

      1. @narwhal I wish Eddsworld didn't make me care about good sound design.

        1. @mrmattimation I have to spot, mix, and apply every necessary effect for this huge action scene for my final (which utilizes stuff like missiles, explosions, huge structures collapsing, lots of yelling, huge vehicles, etc.)

It's very arduous work, and the thing about it is that a good job from an audio-post engineer is meant to not be noticed by the general audience, so it's a line of work hardly credited by regular viewers.

          1. @narwhal Yuuuup. It's not my job to make sure this cartoon sounds good, but I'm doing it anyway 'cause I want it to found good. What you're doing sounds a million times harder, though.

            1. @mrmattimation In spite of its difficulty, doing this work has given me a new appreciation for good mixing and sound design in film and television, so there's that. And like how I mentioned earlier that many audience members don't notice it, by extension lots of amateur and independent content creators tend to to overlook it too, so good on you for paying attention to it.

              1. @narwhal Sound was one of Lloyd Kaufman's big foci in his "...Your Own Damn Movie" books. Innumerable indie and low budget productions that would otherwise be serviceable are ruined by bad sound.

              2. @narwhal I sort of just tend to think about sound almost as much as visuals in any form of media. I dunno why. Even when I was a kid I could point out when one work used the same sound libraries as another.

                1. @mrmattimation My brother and I actually have a bunch of inside jokes between us for a handful of commonly used audio effects that we've both recognized since we were young. Funnily enough despite working in audio I actually tend to pay more attention to the visuals in my first run through of a film, though I've also done so much work in audio that it's now easier for me to pick up on and evaluate the audio of something I'm watching.

            1. @scribus Yeah, I've heard the same. Special and practical effects too.
