  1. Alright LISTEN UP BOZOS, CAUSE I'M ONLY GONNA SAY THIS ONCE: Being offensive for the sake of being offensive isn't funny. I know that I am the last guy that you wanna hear that from, but it's true. It's forgivable if offensive words just kind of slip out from time to time. But using words like "retarded" in every other sentence specifically because people do not like you saying it is super duper crappy. It's like what a four year old does when they're told not to say "no" and proceed to repeat it over and over and over again just for the attention.

    1. @mrmattimation I'd agree with you on all but one thing, "everyday conversation". If I want to use exageration as tool to get my point across, such as "I think that the prison system in the USA is a retarded mess" or "I think that people who deliberately say hurtfull stuff all the time might be a wee bit retarded" I should well be able to do so. If we were banned from using the word we would just find another word anyway, and another, and another, at enfinitum. It's way simpler to abide by the rule "Don't be a dick".

      1. @critialcloudkicker 1) Your "if we ban one word, we'll eventually ban all of them" point is a slippery slope that's presumptuous postulation at best. 2) There are plenty of other, better words you can use aside from "retarded" (e.g. ridiculous, preposterous, ludicrous, etc.) 3) If we all are in fact abiding by your rule of "don't be a dick", don't you think that deliberately saying words that you know are offensive because you're too stubborn to be sensitive is, I dunno, kinda being a dick?

        1. @narwhal @critialcloudkicker I like "goon" and "Melvin". Those are my new favorite insults.

        2. @narwhal 1> I'm more afraid that when we start banning parts of the vocabulary that there might be little end in sight. Just a fear and/or nagging part at the back of my head. Quite hard to rationalise with. 2> I am not a politician nor am I trained in any artform of diplomacy, words are not easy either and neither of those examples convey what I think of some systems. 3> There is a big differense in being a dick and being a inconsidderate dick. I am not going to scrap words out of my dictionary just because it might offend people who do not understand how I use the word, possibly. However making damn sure not to swear with cancer in the cancer wing of a hospital is a way different ballpark.

            2. @critialcloudkicker  You appear to me to be a pretty rational / pragmatic type of person. Try not to over-think everything. Just be yourself. ;-) This is no criticism of you,at all.

              1. @pennyfortheguy Kinda hard not to over-think everything when the people you're working with are either 100% doing that or are asking you critical pragmatic questions because of it. But thanks :) ... I should probably try again to find a debate-team or something and drag a few of my clients into it, they'd probably like it too :) ( since I figure they do this kinda stuff for 'sport' )

      2. @critialcloudkicker @mrmattimation "The prison system in the USA is a retarded mess" is no exaggeration.
