@tiffany Funnily enough, they COULD decide Hillary has won, even now, and as far as I'm aware they've done so before, but then again that'd prove that democracy is a lie and cause a civil war.

@nerthos I personally consider America's current democracy to be a lie, from what I've learned. I see absolutely no reason why someone with majority votes should lose

@tiffany Well it has SOME advantages. Chief among them is that it's much, much harder to fool electors with ignorance than individuals. Fraud is harder. The main issue with the system is that the electoral college is lacking in human quality right now as it has caught on the vices of career politics.

@nerthos Actually, technically speaking, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, so if the electoral college decided to tell Trump to go batcave himself they totally could justify it as doing the democratic thing.

@mrmattimation Oh, guess I had outdated info. Still, it's so close that it'd still probably cause a civil war. In most countries that have a direct vote system, you need a meaningful difference to win without a second round. A .2% would just send you to a second election to break the tie with simple majority.
