@bowandlyre Why would Wind Waker EVER even get CLOSE to winning game of the decade?
-
@abigpony Oh don't start, that game was amazing.
-
@bowandlyre I hate the Wind Waker style games so much.
-
@bowandlyre That game was mediocre at best and only praised for the art style, which it didn't even perfect. It did nothing for video games but put an alternatative, already existing style onto a popular franchise and give the false illusion of creativity.

@abigpony Bullcr4p
-
@bowandlyre What made it worthy of a decade worth of gaming?
-
@abigpony What made half life 2 worthy?
-
@zeldatra Why? I kinda liked them :/
-
@bowandlyre it inspired countless mods, open-based gaming, and helped inspire the forward push of graphics and physics realism in games by creating memorable characters in a simplistic storyline that played on pre-established literary and otherwise popular elements of storytelling.
-
@abigpony That game was overrated to hell...

@bowandlyre >be proven wrong >"nah, it sucked. It was overrated" http://ur1.ca/bwpu0

@abigpony Dude Windwaker was a master piece, the soundtrack the art style and the gameplay were fantastic. Exploring the great sea was so magical and many gamers will agree.

@bowandlyre The art style was an overdone hodgepog of bright colors used to draw the eye due to contrast and general brightness. By creating both a world and characters made of these overly-bright deisgns, it all meshes together into nothing but a childish design that does nothing to set you apart from anything else. (for the alternate, you can look at games like Arkham City/Asylum where everything is dark and blends together) The gameplay was nothing unique and the only thing that set THAT as a factor to anyone is that it was one of the only zelda games on the gamecube, much less one that made full use of that controller. The Great Sea was only a small element of the game. That's like saying "I enjoyed Kingdom hearts for the Gummy Ship flights." I can't really say anything against the soundtrack because I don't remember it so I'll give you that one for now. As for the gamers agreeing, yeah, they'll agree because it plays on their sense of childlike nostalgia.

@abigpony If the art style is SO bad why the hell do so many people love it? It's not that it's bad it's just that you don't like it.
-
@bowandlyre See: last sentence. It's childlike in it's overindulgence of color and cell-shading.
-
@abigpony So? And most games theese days are dark realistic and boring, I'm all for good graphics and all but art style is what truly matters in my opinion the art was different does that make it bad? no
-
@bowandlyre No, but it isn't the sole element of a decade-winning game. Sure, it was different art, the problem is that they TRIED something and it was crap in execution because they overdid it. I'll admit, I bought games like Skyrim and Borderlands for the art. They look nice. That doesn't make them spectacular games. I won't argue with you that a lot of games today are trying to make games that look realistic and bland because that's what consumers like. It's half because of the Call fo Duty effect in which they keep making crappy games because they sell and it's risky to make something different, but it's also half because they're trying to push the limits of graphics and such. That's why there are so few games that overtake the industry nowadays. They know what everyone wants so they keep doing it.
