  1. I personally like the Xbox because it doesn't have PSN. I would much prefer PCs over both of these, though.

    1. @dontbeamatt And I like the PS3 because it doesn't have XBL.

      1. @scribus In all honesty I dont care about online play much. I just got an Xbox first and dont see the point in getting a PS3 since they're exactly the same. It's like choosing between Coke and Giant Cola.

        1. @dontbeamatt Yeah, I don't care about online play, either. I don't even play current-gen games very often. Most "recent" system I own is an N64, and that's over at my parents' because I don't have a TV (or any space for it). But, if I had a choice between PS3 and XBox 360, I'd probably choose the PS3 because of the Red Ring of Death, and the fact that I've had the 360 scratch the everloving loving out of a disc if it's bumped a little bit. Back in the 90s, I had a CD player I could jog with without problems, you can never convince me that the 360 disc eating is anything but a complete failure.

          1. @scribus But that's because you have two other options. Before 2007 the 360 was the only 7th gen game console.

            1. @dontbeamatt How about the Mac ? It is a PC that thinks it is a console as far as I am concerned

              1. @critialcloudkicker But that's a Mac. It is not for gaming.

                1. @dontbeamatt The RD voice actress in that video is the one I got for MLB 2.

                2. @dontbeamatt In my eyes it has been especially streamlined to perform certain jobs while still being able to perform anything a PC can do if you void the warranty and... do something... For me that is the major denominator for what and why it is a console.

Tuesday, 19-Feb-13 22:12:09 UTC from web
                  1. @critialcloudkicker Well yeah, I guess in the creativity department Macs are pretty specialized.

Tuesday, 19-Feb-13 22:14:21 UTC from web
                    1. @dontbeamatt Some people call it creativity, other people call it "lets make something different by making a computer system that is entirely different from otherwise overwhelmingly big by encapsulating the end-user in a safe-bubble where they can only do what we allow them to do. and release software for it so that they can still do what they want to do, but they work with OUR software so they can not possibly do anything wrong EVER" + a marketing campaign". So there you pretty much have the outline of a console methinks. Just not made with gaming in mind when it was created.

                      1. @critialcloudkicker No, I mean Macs are better for animation, design, and music stuff.

                        1. @dontbeamatt I am fairly sure that this is a matter of acquired taste. But I could be wrong, I do not own a Mac or Apple product

                          1. @critialcloudkicker I quite honestly dont care what OS I use. As long as it gets the job done it's good by me.

      2. @scribus I'm not saying I hate Nintendo, but it doesn't exactly help their image if their most popular series is Mario, not putting him down either, just more of a Super Smash Bros/Pokemon guy from them

    2. @dontbeamatt I like the PS3 because PSN is at least as good if not better than XBL and they're not trying to charge you for PSN.

      1. @redenchilada Like I said, I got an Xbox first and spending $250 to get free online play and then having to buy a bunch of $50 games and addons, adding up to like $500 for free online play.

        1. @dontbeamatt *doesn't make a lot of sense

Tuesday, 19-Feb-13 21:42:06 UTC from web
        2. @dontbeamatt You had to spend that much on the Xbox anyway. From a neutral, haven't-bought-anything-yet standpoint, the PS3 pretty much gives you more for your money IMO.

Tuesday, 19-Feb-13 21:42:46 UTC from web
          1. @redenchilada Right. If there was an option at the time, I would have gotten a PS3. But the 360 came first, so...

    3. @vt3c I think that is another way to describe a console really :)

Tuesday, 19-Feb-13 22:25:30 UTC from web
    4. @vt3c I have a laptop from '92 that used to ran SuSe 4.0 and function as my own NAS ( before that was a word I think ) and IRC ghost, aswell as other stuff... The hard drive finally gave way after the last power failure. Got a new hard disk and I am blowing new life into it with Xubuntu... ( it is Ubuntu on X instead of Gnome ) ... Old hardware is so solvely :)
