I read The Conversion Bureau a long time ago. It was cherries.

@equestriagaming I'm not much of a book person, but that sounds rather interesting :o Though it sounds like I should keep moving xP

@neurario Yes, please do. The story can be summed up as "humans aren't perfect, so let's cause them all to go extinct and replace them with ponies". Some of the fan stories are even worse...
-
@equestriagaming A more interesting and better executed take on that concept is "Friendship is Optimal", which is actually worth your time if you're into artificial intelligence and the ethics of transhumanism.
-
@ceruleanspark Sounds interesting...but googling it shows me cooking websites. #fail
-
@equestriagaming http://www.fimfiction.net/story/62074/friendship-is-optimal and its excellent spinoff piece, http://www.fimfiction.net/story/69770/1/friendship-is-optimal-caelum-est-conterrens/3 "Heaven is Terrifying"
-
@scoot The discrepancy is probably down to the fact I read it on your wireless
-
@ceruleanspark @scoot oh oops I got the wrong one, oh well.
-
@ceruleanspark That might be something to do with it
-
@scoot The google algorithm knows what you meant.
-
@ceruleanspark Google is clever, but scary. Considering I wasn't the person who accessed it.
-
@scoot ...why do you remind me so much of Bigpone?
-
@scoot It's probably seen my hardware from your network to have built up the idea that we're related, or the same person from multiple endpoints.
-
@zeldatra oh god
-
@zeldatra I feel like I should be offended.
-
@scoot Don't be, I always found him pretty cool.
-
@ceruleanspark For some reason Chatoyance's avatar causes me to feel a strange, creeping feeling of terror whenever I look at it, and I feel like running far, far away. I don't know why this is...
-
@equestriagaming The uncanny valley as applied to friendship equines.
-
@ceruleanspark Probably. Her writing style has a similar effect on me, and I have had similar sensations with other people before.
-
@equestriagaming They came highly recommended by Eliezer Yudkowsky, so I suspect I already had an immunity from reading his magnum opus.
-
@ceruleanspark Let me get this straight...are you saying that Eliezer Yudkowsky recommended Chatoyance's work to people?
-
@equestriagaming I am saying precisely that.
-
@equestriagaming http://hpmor.com/notes/progress-13-03-01/ "On the lighter side, I recommend the recursive fanfic “Friendship is Optimal: Caelum est Conterrens” (Heaven Is Terrifying). This is the first and only effective horror novel I have ever read, since unlike Lovecraft, it contains things I actually find scary. "
RDN's Lucifer likes this. -
@ceruleanspark Screw her sole intentionally scary story, the rest of them are what really horrify me. Her writing style almost comes across as vaguely demonic to me, and reading it gave me a really nasty headache.
