  1. @nerthos I'd like to add/ask one thing. It is one thing to have something being made public by yourself ( though choice or shame ). But in today's age something that is "leaked"/"spilled" by a third party like your neighbours, will also end up in that database. Problem is that a third party can leak/spill things that are not true and have a huge impact. In a very hefty example my neighbour can shout from the rooftops that I have tried to rape her. This will probably not go away, ever, even if human and technological evidence exonerate me from at all being able to in the first place.

Add that to "whenever you do something publically ( like MRA-activism for instance ) you make a bigger target of yourself"

Is the answer now not to do anything because bad things might happen and you end up in Big Brother's Big Bad Database ? If someone forces me into a spotlight ( like the above example ) I will end up in BBBBD anyway. So What can we do to reclaim our sense of "privacy" ?

  2. @tiffany Well, that sure took a dark turn from what I was expecting. Anything I can do ?

  5. @tiffany I would argue that randomly giving out psychiatric evaluations would be very intrusive, worrysome, and especially so when deemed unneccessary by peers, to be somewhat, ehmm, Naziesque.

Then again I am not really 100% sure if that is something they did because they did it, or something I'd be sure they do because it seems to be the evil intrusive kinda thing they would do.

  6. @tiffany "Resuscitating corpses and sewing dogs together" ... Kinda sounds like something Lutz and Heinz Heck and their "team" would do. They tried to rebreed the Aurochs back from extinction. What they did and when they did it make Godwin's law invokable...

Also you could just have called the NHS a bunch of... ... you know

Tuesday, 26-Apr-16 21:18:50 UTC from web in context
  7. @tiffany I could invoke Godwin's law here, but part of me thinks that was already implied.

  8. @critialcloudkicker Although I am not sure whom I would speak Latin with, I mean it would be helpful in the medical and science fields. Might be fun. Also I guess it could prove very usefull if I have an Astrix&Obelix lucid dream again. "et tua ceasar" ( <- google translate at work )

  9. @thelastgherkin There are so many word related "gotcha" thingies out there. Studying a new language brings out SO much of them in all the languages I can at least speak ( noted that this increases exponentially perpendicular to one's vocabulary ). ... Also Mayhaps I should consider to learn some Latin one day

    Also, Thank you :D

  11. What is the loathing of humankind called again ? I know it was a single word, something like "anarchist" but with humankind instead of laws and rules.

    Does that make sense ?

  15. @adiwan Yeah, that is the problem with dubbing alright. https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lottie_Hellingman#Nasynchronisatie . Look at that list, it is WAY too big. And that is just because she is a good dubber ( well, retired dubber now, I think ). So at one point all the caracters become one, which is bad, or you end up with noobie voices that you kind of just want to slap before they put you asleep.

  16. @adiwan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzp-yzHpQWE ... Not bad... but even if I was able to understand all of it I think I would also still prefer the English version.

In fact there is probably only 1 thing that became better with dubbing, and that is Darkwing Duck in Dutch. And that is probably only because Johnny Kraaijkamp Jr was a shoefit role for DWD, whereas James Jonah Cummings did a metric ton of Disney caracters

  21. @taknamay If you try to rationalize this you come to the conclusion that any increase in required effort within the field you are working in can not be seen as anything else other than bad. As such, a person who thinks faster than he/she can read probably knows all there is to find in that article even before clicking on it. Is that a good way to phrase it ?

  22. @taknamay *sherlock mode* you just gave me a beautiful picture of a tree. a tree which is bountyfully found on GMT -6 and GMT -7 timezones, it is 19:50 here in GMT+1. So it is is only around noon-ish give or take an hour ? ... so the sollution is... coffee ?

  25. @nerthos ... My current thoughts went immediately towards "if your girlfriend is holding a tyrannical control ( iron grip ? ) on your life that can not be a healthy relationship, can it ?". Excuse me thinking out loud.

  26. @nerthos Someone holding a tyranical control of your life ? ... I thought you was talking about one of your peers dissaproving of something you did/do ? ( heck, maybe even lower than peer )

  27. @nerthos Being miserable is the easiest to acquire since it takes the least amount of effort. And you offset the miserable side by doing something you love with all the energy you have saved.

  28. I just witnessed a couple of wild rabbits devour a couple of cherries though a camera lens. Turns out wild rabbits are not afraid of an old noizy laptop with wifi capabilities and a webcam ( probably because they live right next to an expressway ( like a short distance highway ) ) ... But after witnessing that slaughter now I am afraid of wild rabbits. ... Naw, just kidding, though I probably should be able to edit the footage in such a way it becomes impressive enough for Halloween
