  3. @drinkingpony Well... No. Clearly, no one will believe this was an accident, but if we spin the Wheel O' Scapegoats and point hard enough at invisible "bad actors" on the outside, we just might be able to spin this long enough to transfer into another department.

  4. @drinkingpony ...voting booths are supposed to have curtains!?

  5. @drinkingpony According to exit polls from 2016, more than three quarters of Bernie Sanders primary voters voted for Clinton in the general (the remaining 25% is split three ways: people who voted Trump, people who voted for a third party candidate, or people who didn't vote at all). Official vote tabulations, as certified by each state's government (Republicans had already controlled quite a few of these on Election Day 2016 - this is no longer true for most of them as of January 2019), showed that while Trump did much better than Romney and McCain in states like Ohio and Iowa, he also did worse than them in states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan... all of which were won by him and not Clinton. He didn't get normally Democratic votes in those states. The Democrat just got less than is normal. These are two different situations, and although they eventually lead to the same outcome, it's important to make the distinction because it reveals a lot about the climate of 2016.

  6. @drinkingpony I've been digging on the idea of a van and/or a tiny house and just going vagabonding, but I have no real earthly idea of a destination. It's always been my problem. Might as well try university abroad.

  7. @drinkingpony I confess to knowing no specifics of the placement of their hands and that turkey baster, but I do hear from the guards it was always at least suspected! And no less hilarious a scene for it.

  9. @drinkingpony It was said about Trump but looking at the actual vote totals it doesn't seem to be all that accurate. It wasn't that he outpaced previous Republican nominees (in fact, he did WORSE than both Romney and McCain in quite a few areas) but rather that he MOSTLY held Republican ground while Clinton lost too many places that had previously gone for Obama (and while some of those people voted for Trump, a great majority of them just didn't vote at all). Joe Biden on the other hand is similar enough to Obama (who DID capture quite a sizable portion of the Republican vote in both of his elections) that he could probably replicate most of Obama's success, and perhaps even outpace him due both to changing demographics in states like Arizona and Georgia, and also due to the fact that Biden is often viewed as being more conservative than Obama, despite the fact that as President he'd probably actually be more liberal than Obama was, so he can probably win Republican states.

  11. @drinkingpony Point of clarification : I was being facetious when I said I would need a GTX 5099 ( obviously ) but the main thing I was jabbing at is that the whole game is unoptimized, as in, SHAMEFULLY unoptimized for what even an AA title, but it is an AAA title now and it should really, you know, not set an example that bad.

I mean, it is not like you guys want me # - ing on Mass Effect Andromeda ( again ) right ?

  12. @drinkingpony Best headline ever was "Boehner Hard on Weiner" (which maybe was just a gag?) from the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal.

  15. @adiwan @drinkingpony I have a t-shirt where Groot has a Tux doll on his computer desk. Does that count, or am I safe? If it hurts/helps, Groot is saying "I am root." And he's wearing a Rocket Raccoon shirt, himself.

  16. @drinkingpony Sometimes people don't get the basicness of HTML. BTW: I have a tux t-shirt but I haven't worn it for almost a decade and I usually peel off every sticker possible except for the ThinkPad logo stickers. Those OS, graphics card and processor stickers on the palm rest are the worst.

  17. @drinkingpony I wish. I got it off amazon from a 3rd party seller and it was the last one and it was not cheap (120€). I saw a similar model for 80€ but the order got cancelled because it was a warehouse error and wasn't actually available. My keyboard that I have has the model number 55Y9017 (site with model numbers for other language layouts http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/printableversion.wss?docURL=/common/ssi/rep_ca/0/877/ENUSZG09-0520/index.html ). The one I initially wanted was FRU57Y4655 but it cannot be found anywhere.

  18. @drinkingpony Somewhat yeah. This is why it's great. It's basically the keyboard and a USB control board. It has even holes on the other side for draining liquid in case of a spill (like a Thinkpad laptop). I wish it just had a little bit more weight. It´s meant to be portable so I don't weight that against it.

  19. @drinkingpony It contains everything I despise: Java, Eclipse, custom Domain Specific Languages, a custom build system, model based software development,.

  20. @drinkingpony I'm only aware of this show because I bumped into a woman on the BART who was involved with the show somehow supposedly. Apparently not a writer.

  21. @drinkingpony it's that my company does not offer the projects I'd like to do. I was lent to another company to make VR trainings but they cannot afford me anymore due to budget cuts. I really enjoyed that despite having some problematic moments. I'd do something in a similar vein. Right now I'm stuck programming for a sensor simulation development environment.

  22. @drinkingpony This is, uh, not accurate at all. The current Steam version is just a patch-updated version of the original 2005 Windows PC port designed by Rockstar North. The iPhone/Windows Store/Xbox 360 version of the game is a different port built in a different graphics engine by War Drum Studios, the song license issue is entirely separate.

  26. @drinkingpony Haha. How comes? I only know someone I studied with and was super enthusiastic about the Hololens and bought it for himself for playing around (as in programming with it). I'd say he was a sane guy and quite intelligent so I think that was a purchase with more promise for the future. As for non-programmers it'd be definitely insane.

  27. @drinkingpony No sane person buys a Hololens for oneself. The Hololens 1 is a tech demo for itself. Limited interaction opportunities (a single hand gesture or a button on a remote) (it has bluetooth but there is no standard input device) and a very limited field of view, and it is hugely expensive. The Hololens 2 fixes a lot of problems by almost doubling the field of view and offering full hand tracking within the field of view. It has to be determined how good it performs and if it is affordable at all. So far the industry shows more interest in these products than normal mortal consumers. I don't think that it will change anytime soon.

  30. @drinkingpony What!? It's how the 3D camera on my 3DS works. It's how 3D movies, comic books, and even ye olde stereopticon worked. You have, count'em - Height. Width. Depth. One, Two, Three. The "optical tricks" in LOTR aren't 3D, they're Forced Perspective. 3D - Three Dimensions. Height, Width, and (ThE iLlUsIoN oF) Depth.
