  1. @drinkingpony Also I think I can always re-muddy the issue back to its original topic using... Well... Porn actually.

How do you know your favorite 3D goggle porn feauting that woman you really like does not either have proportionate dwarfism and really small boobs or proportionate gigantism and really big boobs ?

Yeah, you need 3D boobs for that... I meant vision...

  2. @drinkingpony What? That's exactly how it works. Two cameras, two slightly different images, one fed to each eye - depth perception! . . . Right?

  3. @drinkingpony Well how else can they shoot in 3D?

  6. @drinkingpony Why can't we just standardize a standard standard?!?!

  7. @drinkingpony I've only ever watched the film.

  8. @drinkingpony This thing is ultra light. The cable will drag it wherever it wants. Also miniHDMI is prone to deteriorate when being pulled and bent silly. I need to think about printing a fixture for my miniHDMI to normal HDMI adapter to the enclosure before I can do anything else (I want it to last at least for a little bit). In the end it'll probably end up somewhere behind the TV with sticky velcro.

  10. @drinkingpony A retroTink-2x http://www.retrotink.com/ It converts composite/component/s-video to (mini)HDMI.

  14. @drinkingpony My expectations were low because it was announced as a "musical" movie but these expectations were broken by being even lower. My main complaint throughout was that it lacked consistency and it retread old plot plot points to the detriment of the pacing.

  15. @drinkingpony Yeah... But the most annoying thing a 3d printer cannot fix is a scratched display. And this is almost impossible to ignore on such a small screen on such a low eye-to-device distance. A replacement display makes it almost up to a new device price-wise.

  16. @drinkingpony For that price I've always seen very banged-up or defective consoles. I'm rather buying a new "New 2DS" and spare me the misfortune to cobble together multiple defective ones to a working one.

  20. @drinkingpony Let's see... I have plans for a time travel action platform puzzler, a top-down fantasy arena combat, a Pac-Man style maze game about gardening, and yeah, if I can swing it a space game kind of like The Guardian Legend where it's 50% space shooter and 50% top-down adventure and 50% maze exploration and 50% gigantic boss fights....

  21. @drinkingpony Yeah, but I also don't have a strong enough competitive drive. I play games for fun, fun doesn't pay the bills. :p I mean, I know I could (on some of these; a lot I genuinely lack the reaction time or manual dexterity; oh, well), but ultimately I wouldn't, you know? Still druther just play for fun and make solo indie games of my own. Perhaps one day... And maybe even sooner than we think!

  22. @drinkingpony Intriguing little adapter. I'll put that into my browser bookmarks. Why are MSI and Gigabyte boards avoided?

Friday, 23-Aug-19 17:57:43 UTC from web in context
  23. @drinkingpony I didn't choose anything in particular. I preliminarily took the average price of the compatible mainboards. It should have 1GBit LAN and USB 3.2 and decent sound and m.2. My demands aren't high. I don't have the need to support old PCI hardware anymore like a 1999 WinTV TV card.

  24. @drinkingpony well. Ryzen 3700X, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVME M.2 SSD, NVidia RTX 2080S, mainboard and CPU cooler. The rest I can reuse although not much.

  25. @drinkingpony You asked why the Democrats "allow" the news to talk about Greenland. I don't know what country you live in, but we don't have state-run media here. Nancy Pelosi can't just call up CNN and say "hey, stop talking about this".

Thursday, 22-Aug-19 18:12:22 UTC from web in context
  26. @drinkingpony Democrats don’t control the media, contrary to what conspiracy theorists will tell you.

  27. @drinkingpony I just think it's a seriously unbalanced noise-to-signal ratio and it drowns out any reporting on the real issues.

Wednesday, 21-Aug-19 18:03:51 UTC from web in context
  28. @drinkingpony Nobody wants to be the organization that "fails" to report on a thing. Trump is loud enough that people will find out he's being absurd, and ask why the news is ignoring something so obvious. So someone is gonna report on it, which now means everyone's got to, and by the time they're done covering their butts, there's nothing left for the real news.

  30. @drinkingpony I don’t care about the President’s fake-ass distraction, the only reason he announced an intent to purchase Greenland was to distract from the fact that he’s completely reversed on a gun control bill after a single meeting with Fairfax County’s most well-funded terrorist organization, and the media is playing right into his tiny hand.
