i have been told by a Venezuelan person to shut the cherry up about Venezuela and I suppose i have no recourse because what am I gonna do, call him a cherry?
about 5 months ago from web-
@zeldatra Plenty of Venezuelan refugee students at my workplace, all were insanely happy about the intervention, so were their parents. Refugee associations called for a celebration in the capital at 18 and at 14 it was already full, they were still there past midnight. Ex student I kept in contact with (in college now) I messaged right when the extraction was announced (it was early morning here) and she had to take a break to cry. I have yet to see one who isn't happy about it.
Machado is an F tier candidate for actually being in charge of the country and will absolutely sell all resources, however in the words of a Venezuelan refugee that was asked about the oil on the sidewalk here, "we don't have food why would we care about oil?"
I think Zion Don's current administration isn't great but this is probably the first genuinely good military act the USA has carried out since ordering the navy to clear out the pirates in the seas of Tripoli. -
@nerthos in the grander scheme of things after doing some research I’ve come around on this particular event but I have an admittedly self-interested dislike of any US military intervention anywhere for any reason regardless of the outcome
-
@zeldatra Everyone except the zionists dislike any US intervention, but if they're going to do it regardless, it might as well be an useful one with at least one or two good facets to it.

it is time to discuss the butt

@liquidusmira The butt joint is a fine way to attach two pieces of wood for low stress applications.

Today in “real apple I saw today” at work: black dude flashing white power signs and confronting brown dudes saying they look like the DC shooter. There’s something in the water in this FrankerZin town man I swear to god, everybody has a screw loose

Stranger Things Season 5 part 1 was quite good. A lot happened but it didn't meander as much as some other season. It had a tight direction and the editing cuts were at time creative, maybe a little too much in a short time. 8/10
about 6 months ago from web-
@scribus No. I can see past that. It's unfair to point that out as the actors can't do anything against that. I bet CGI doctoring would look worse. It's less aggregious
-
@adiwan I'm kinda mixed on it, like I'm used to seeing high school freshmen who shave three times a day from all those 80s movies with 25 year olds playing teenagers, but at the same time I've seen them be middle schoolers before, it's not like they were introduced in this age category. They really need to do something about these screwed up production schedules, it had been so long between seasons I didn't even know if I'd seen the last one or not, lol.
-
@scribus I get you. I had a similar reaction at the first episode but I got quickly used to. Production schedules are always a mess. Many cogs in the system with any points of failure with as many compromises. I don't believe they did it on purpose stretching the release as they did. I think there are most likely scheduling conflicts and creative differences in the way.
My mother regularly asks me when new Outlander episodes will be released and I have to console here that's taking a long time to film. On top of that I have to wait for the German synchro to be released for download.

If I hadn't this Humble Bundle Image Comics bundle is fire https://www.humblebundle.com/books/image-comics-in-10s-books About 17€ for bangers like Saga, I Hate Fairyland, Papergirls, and Curse Words. Moonstruck is neat, as well as Plutonia. Ice Cream Man I read only an issue and it's also intriguing as it's an anthology. Sex Criminals got me annoyed and stopped at Volume 3. Maybe it gets better but the characters were grating. mango Planet is a trash fire in my opinion despite the intriguing premise. I can't say anything about the other comics except most have fairly good reviews.
about 6 months ago from web-
@adiwan I read some "I Hate Fairyland" back in the beginning and was enjoying it up until the main title I was actually going to the store for stopped releasing regularly
-
@scribus Yeah. It sucks when the series updates very irregularly. I am still waiting for new Saga issues, however they keep on waiting. What's worse is buying into a series and shortly after it being cancelled. Happened to me a few times. I also bought the first issue and all future issues got cancelled like "Trust Fall" https://www.amazon.com/TRUST-FALL-English-Christopher-Sebela-ebook/dp/B07RF2YMCV Looked amazing. Synopsis amazing. Cancellation not so. In a weird way I trusted the series and they let me fall. In hindsight wonderfully meta.

I don't like resin 3D-printing. It's so messy and slimy and gets everywhere.
about 7 months ago from web-
@adiwan Does it at least look anything like the sci fi cyborg bath kind of Ghost in the Shell type scene that I already know in my heart it doesn't?
-
@scribus I own the first Elegoo Mars SLA 3D printer. It uses an array of UV LEDs that shines through an LCD that masks the areas that exposes the UV-curing resin. That is below the resin VAT that has a very sturdy, slightly flexible and transparent bottom. The actual model that is 3D-printed is attached to a parallel platform that moves up (and down) such that the exposed resin is at the defined layer height. Sadly it's not that cool-looking. It needs about an hour of print time until the printed model can be seen while printing. It's also a source of my anger as a failed print takes that time to be detected.

@adiwan Nobody rich has ever done a bad thing, after all!!! :D
-
@scribus I don't mind being rich myself. HAHAHA. It would solve so many problems. Becoming rich without needing to be a dick is the only problem. The lottery is not feasible.
-
@adiwan Yeah, those odds are a royal pain, much better chances at the horse track

I don't understand the pricing of used Raspberry Pi. They either cost exactly as much as new or they cost even more. All I want is to connect my 3D printers to my network as cheap as possible.

Then again, to be fair, I remember next to nothing about Urban Legend, and I guess he was deleted from Phone Booth so I've really only seen three movies with him (American Psycho being the last)
about 7 months ago from web-
@scribus I've seen American Psycho, Phone Booth, Bladerunner 2049, and Morbius. So my count is the same. Morbius was the only film I deliberately watched to see Leto and even my pretty low expectations were somehow challenged by his bizzarre acting. Besides that everyone was idiotic in that film.

With the way this season’s been going having their stadium named after Trump would only be the second worst thing to happen to the Commanders.

I suppose it's ultimately a good thing that my local food bank has enough volunteers that it's actually kind of challenging to schedule a volunteer shift, right? That means people are actually helping, yes?? Not that they're critically underfunded to the point where they can't even afford free labor, right???
about 7 months ago from web-
@scribus I'd probably say that there is not enough food for the volunteers to give out.

The kid I grew up across the street from and knew for 35 years just died last week of an asthma attack, he wasn't even 40
about 7 months ago from web-
@adiwan WTF indeed
-
@scribus About 18 years ago I had to do mandatory military service but I opted to do community service at a nursing home instead. There I saw a guy, 40 years of age, completely devastated by a stroke and unable to speak and barely move. Freshly graduating school that was shocking to see.

@adiwan Damn that's brutal

Sure is neat how America makes you choose your health coverage three months before you know if your medicine is covered by that plan or not, real good system (for cherrying the masses in their asses)

@scribus Best system bought with money (by the lobbyists).

Imagine file type names always have the name of the main implementer's family name. Instead of GIF it'd be Wilhite. People sending Whilite's to each other for entertainment.

In an alternative universe file extensions aren't at the end but at the beginning, like instead of "picture.jpg" it's "jpg.picture".

@zeldatra Cool. I bet you're not allowed to carry a baseball bat with barbed wire wrapped around it.
-
@adiwan unfortunately not but we do sell foam bats in my store so I might just carry one of those around all night.
-
@zeldatra Then I might suggest using (gray) pipe cleaner as a barbed wire replacement.
