OK so maybe Sims 4 is not total and complete garbage, but I still need extensive cheats and mods just to get the basics handled and they broke too many fundamental things into way too many individual DLCs, and EA is still knee-deep trashwater

@scribus funny thing about that: our fresh truck came in finally and the dry shelves have been fully stocked for weeks, no idea where the media is getting those photos of bare shelves in the DC area

Hey, if you have HBO Max or access to a cable subscription: I have some friends who worked on Smiling Friends, [adult swim]’s new animated horror comedy. The sixth episode features a Bakshi-inspired character who was animated by some friends of mine, but the whole show in general is very funny. The show hits HBO Max on Feb 9th, and if you have cable, you can watch the entire series on adultswin.com right now. If you could give it a watch, that’d be real cool, because we really wanna see a second season get greenlit and online viewership is pretty much how they decide what gets renewed these days.

The Eternals movie was a dud. The actors were all good but the plot and direction were my main issues. Good that I didn't waste my money going to the cinema for that.

Senator Kaine lives in Richmond and takes I-95 to work. Took him 26 hours to get to the Capitol building. Richmond to DC is ordinarily a 3 hour drive, it’s a drive I make constantly. 26 hours.

I tasted wine and it gave me the impression of vinegar.
I tasted champagne and it gave me the impression of very stingy vinegar.
I tasted beer and it gave me the impression of half-digested and thrown-up bread.
I tasted mead and it gave me the impression of acetone.
I tasted vodka and it gave me the sensation of a burning esophagus.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Windows Edition is making me think about how much better Kingdom Hearts could be. The character switching mechanic in particular would make battles feel a lot less like you’re just mashing A for twenty minutes, and it’d be especially fitting post-III where there are now two trios of Keyblade wielders (plus Kairi)

@scribus I may or may not have had COVID over Christmas, couldn’t get tested though because no appointments were open. Whatever I did have is gone now so I guess it’s moot now, but I’m one of the only people at work who didn’t get a booster shot and the other one who didn’t was out sick before and after me, so it’s an easy conclusion to come to.

@zeldatra Ex GF reports 65% of people at her Xmas are now infected, with the boosted faring the best so far. Shame is, it's a total bone trying to get the booster. My grandma was told by her doctor that the earliest appointment was February; then, at Walgreen's, the guy in line behind her asked the cashier about boosters and she jumped in on the spot, no waiting! I got mine, no appointment, from the CVS in Target, but my brother went to (a different) Walgreen's even with no line, and was told to make an appointment.

@scribus I am actually, no joke, getting accusations of racism thrown at me because I think Disney’s movies are all stylistically samey now, which really says a lot at how starved for representation we, as Latinos, are, that we feel obligated to FrankerZiate a less than perfect film with Latinos in it because we think it’s the best we’re ever gonna get.

@scribus If you have the discs, yes. If not, there are no legal ways to get it digitally at ALL anymore. EA took it off of Origin because they were no longer supporting it and only previous owners can download it. For a while there was a product code you could put in to trigger a download but I think k it’s been taken off now.

@zeldatra Damn. It seems that if I can source a pre-2012 disc for Sims 3 (2009 release) I can play without Origin, but I don't know if the expansions will just put me back in the same place :-/

@scribus I have the Steam version of The Sims 3 with all the expansions that didn’t require Origin. Ben a while since I’ve played it though so I dunno if they changed the requirements.

Petition to classify vaporware as a cryptid

@scribus I'd imagine more a creature that affects people/corporations to become greedy with ambitions that results in vaporware. I imagine a millipede and snake hybrid (tail end rattle snake, body millipede, head snake with fangs) with large bug antennae with floofy balls at the ends. The cryptid uses the floofy balls to distract the victim and hide its hideous body and then bits the victim at the back of the head. The fangs inject some kind of venom that causes the feature creep/greed, which itself causes headaches and frustration. That is the nourishment it needs to asexually reproduce itself and affect others in the company.

@scribus As any good cryptid should be. A hideous creepy crawler that "explains" a bad thing in life and that multiplies itself by inflicting more of the bad thing.
