  3. I just had the new She-Ra explained to me by a die-hard fan of the old series

Essentially she thinks it is like taking a beloved franchise that she feels she has supported thoughout the years, by buying merch and all. Someone got their hands on that IP because essentially you can not 'make' a new IP work in the modern oversaturated world. Then added so many new borderline cringe modern 'themes' to it till it pretty much only resembled the beloved She-Ra only in name. I mean For Fox's Sake (I choose to believe she actually said 'For Fox's Sake') they put a first draft D&D character into the show for crying out loud.

Imagine your grandmother learned you how to make granny's apple pie, and then 20 years later she asks you to make her some apple pie just like how she used to like it. Only to have a conversation not even 5 seconds after gramma tasting it about "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU TOOK OUT THE ASBESTOS ?!?"

Strange woman, but made some sense.

I only know 1 person who likes new She-Ra.

  5. Oh and just because it will bug me to hell if I do not say it.

Ripley and to a lesser degree Wonder Woman were my role models growing up. Confident, assured, and with a go-get-em attitude, also good posters.

But Ripley was a 'too soon' kinda thing so it never really mattered, and it is considdered a too old movie nowadays to even get taken seriously as a recomendation. Even though it really should.

Also, Wonder Woman ( comic version, Lynda Carter, Gal Gadot ) had to stand aside as Captain Marvel was triumphantly claiming to be the First Female Cinematic Superhero ( seriously, google those 4 words and stand amazed at the amount of scrawled diarhea ).

But hey, I guess I should be glad that the Black Panther craze has died down so Blade ( Wesley Snipes ) can be black again. Eventually a new product comes along and the cycle repeats itself.

To end this # on a high note. or at least a funny, here is something I don't nearly link to enough http://rainbowdash.net/url/875184

But I would probably upset a LOT of people regarding either religion, flat eartherism, or globe eartherism.

By the end, the person that could be referred to as Karen even makes the closing arguments that "We do not derrive our beliefs from finding a statement and then only using supporting evidence. You claiming that I derrive my beliefs from religion is a fallacy !" and "Hiding behind 'rocket science' is similar to religion, if you look at the catholic church back in the days 'Only WE can interpet the Bible, you have to listen to what we say' so in a lot of ways we're getting that same from science that says that only they can interpet what those numbers are and you just need to trust them"

Me personally ? I hold no stake in any of them being right. It was good to laugh at.

And before anyone goes 'Oh but everyone knows when WW2 was, because it was terrible'. I just saw a clip of Freddie Bentley ( reality TV star ) saying on Good Morning Brittain that he would rather have learned in school about more pressing issues that he could have used IRL because he found himself unready for reality once leaving school.

Here is the kicker, he thinks that school should trim back on what school teaches about WW2 and more about Brexit.

Tell you what mate, if Brexit becomes a long and bloody battle and takes untill at least 2050 before they finally back out, then I agree. But since that is not the case, I think people would benefit a LOT more learning what actual Nazi's were !

    • @drinkingpony There’s 100% a path to re-election that doesn’t involve Virginia, which is why I’m confused why he’s targeting this state. He’s planning to offset potential losses in PA, WI, and especially MI by flipping Colorado, Nevada, New Hampshire, Virginia, and New Mexico. Problem is Clinton won three of those states by 5% or more and they only got more Democratic in elections after that. Realistically I could see him winning New Hampshire and maybe Nevada, which is TECHNICALLY enough assuming he loses the Great Lakes and wins Maine’s second congressional district, but it’s not at all a comfortable margin, and Democrats winning even one more electoral vote (ie by winning Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district) would screw him. His best path to victory is maintaining states he already won, not winning new ones, and going after the swing states that went for Clinton is a very weird move.

    • @mrmattimation Ohkay, I think I found the sore spot right then and there.

      > "best path to victory is maintaining states already won, not winning new ones,"

That is way too much true to the whole idea of political ideologies eating themselves once they get more and more totalitarian. That is "Back your base !" "Back Your Base !" "BACK YOUR OWN FRIGGIN BASE !" untill you have alienated everyone that was not already part of the in-group by the first time those words were chanted.

Back to modern day America. No group is going to win without the support of the people who feel no strong affiliation and rather let the policies ( or gut ) speak to them. Hell, the Rust Belt voted surprisingly Trump after 2 election cycles of "Hope".

Not to say I would not be surprised that in the campaign office they jokingly talk about 'It is not about winning, it is about sending a message' while giving it their best Michael Caine impression.

But it honestly sometimes is, just about sending a message.

    • @drinkingpony It’s all in state leans really. If Trump doesn’t win Wisconsin, he can’t win Michigan, and if he can’t win Michigan, he can’t win Virginia, if he doesn’t win Virginia, he can’t win Colorado, etc, etc. Once you lose one state it becomes a lot harder to win states that lean further from you, not impossible, but harder.

  27. Star wars news : Cnet made an article called "Star Wars has never been better, thanks to Disney". But if you read it there is an entire section of the article that do nothing but praise things that either just came out or are still in the pipeline.

Then you read the comments and the most upvoted one just JUMPS at the opportunity to say "Oh [editor], I just love your article. [ ... ] I just love how all the toxic comments prove your point"

Meanwhile all I can think of is. The failure of Solo. The total halt of Star Wars Story movies. Creative freedom was being called to a complete halt by LucasArts. Toy Sales are down the drain. Galaxy's edge is effectively 'empty'. Ryan Johnson did not get his trilogy. D&D told no to Star Wars in favour of Netflix. Rise of Skywalker is STILL being worked on. And I am not even going to touch the whole 'Star Wars Adventures' thing while making Leia a 'woke woman'

But wait, I think it is a Disney Shill Plant, after all, it is Cnet. And who owns Cnet ?

    • @adiwan Solo was mediocre at best, but lets agree to disagree. You are right regarding being too close to TLJ though. But then again we are pretty much talking about the mother of all cataclysmic events that drove the fandom in twain.

If the people were not so split on TLJ like they were, then things like 'fandom fattigue' never got invented and we probably would not have much negative stuff to say about Solo.

Well, other than the directors of Solo being fired at 90% completion of the movie over 'creative differences' and the thing going out of budget by several dozen millions. The 'news' that comes out later to patch up that hole seems awfully convenient to say the least where actors speak out against the fired directors.

But hey, those are in the same category of people that said that Alden Ehrenreich needed on site coaching how to be more like Han Solo. I call out Nepotism. I reckon you would not have had this problem if you hired Ross Marquand ( I am kidding, a bit )

    • @adiwan Ehmm, no ? I have a list of terribly bad good movies ( Machette, Iron Sky, Kung Fury, Hobo With a Shotgun, Sharknado, Surf Nazi's Must Die, Hercules in New York, Poultrygeist : Night of the Chicken Dead, Batman ( Clooney ) & Robin, Face/Off ) that are filled with "haha, oh my, I can not believe they did that, haha"

I can only guess that is what you mean with 'not very excelling but like them nontheless"

I also have a list of Terrible Terrible movies ( Troll 2, Birdemic, Laserblast, Cool Cat saves the kids, the frEd movies, The Last Airbender ( M Knight ) foodfight ) that make me point at the screen and make horror faces like that one scene from Body Snatchers, you know the one.

I mean, unless if I tone down 'like' to 'could watch it again instead of playing video games'. Then you get movies like Beverly Hills Cop, Police Academy, Showdown in Little Tokyo, Naked Gun, Die Hard ( Best Xmas movie ), Fifth Element, Starship Troopers, Liar Liar, and Wreck it Ralph

  29. Aaaaand my CNC is dead. It coughed up magic smoke. A resistor blew up while trying to troubleshoot the problem of the non-moving and squealing Z Axis. It turned out to be a coil that squealed. The motor was conveniently behind the mainboard so I misinterpreted that as a faulty motor. I bought stepper motors for nothing. I can reuse them for something else. Like making a 3D printer from scratch but it won't be anytime soon.
I contacted Amazon support and they offer a refund. So I bought a new one. The marketplace seller was uncooperative and didn't answered after a week of silence.

I looked at my bank account and nothing was out of the expected. The last thing I ordered from China were 3D printer board (that I've received) and a plushie for a relative's birthday (that I've also received). The customs office letter says that I have to bring a bill, purchase contract, or something that verifies its value and transaction. If I do nothing until the end of next week it'll be sent back. My curiosity is big enough to go to the customs office and see what it is.
