Apparently, years ago, Doctor Who Magazine wanted to depict Paul McGann's regeneration into Eccletson in a comic, but both RTD and the BBC refused the request.

@mrmattimation Well, they /did/ make it never happen, so in away they fulfilled the spirit of the request

@mrmattimation Incorrect! Russell T Davies and the BBC were happy to do so, but they wouldn't allow DWM to depict any Ninth Doctor comic strips without also having Rose. A compromise was nearly reached where the Doctor spent a comic story with his head obscured by regenerative fire the whole time.
