  1. I hate to “both sides” this apple but whataboutism is rampant on both sides and it seems like you can’t make fun of Joe Biden without somebody telling you the last guy was worse. Yes, we’re aware.

    • @butts First, you must gather the Three Treasures of The Void. Also, I think for software instability reasons, it's not really possible. Failing that, the typical approach seems to be just leaving, only to return once a blue moon to comment on how we're still open.

  16. Also damnit I may need to learn Blender. Or some kind of free 3D wireframe making thing.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-21 00:43:41 UTC from web
    • @scribus Blender is crazy easy to learn and there’s a lotta tutorials on YouTube, I’d give it a shot. The latest version has a real-time render engine too and most of its features are compatible with the other, slower, raytraced engine so if you have a halfway decent graphics card you can test materials and lighting situations and such fairly quickly.

    • @mrmattimation Keen. Right now, I kinda just want to make a logo from my old karate school into 3D. It's been done, but I'd rather not steal someone else's. And I do have other things, like an attempt to create a visual model of the Self as a 4-dimensional being with extensions into the Minds of others like that whole NG:E last two episodes acid trip. I think it'll just end up looking like lightning or a neuron, though...

Monday, 22-Feb-21 16:34:30 UTC from web
    • @scribus Sort of sad that it happened but it's good that those riot idiots face consequences one way or another.

    • @adiwan Yeah, I'm more hoping the four members who left over it re-form or at least go on to more success than I am worrying for the one jackboot, lol. And I'm not super-surprised, because after 9/11 they took a hard Right, anyway. It's more just surreal to see happening. And I can't help thinking of Alice Cooper's take on rock in politics: "Why would you listen to US? We can't even hold down a real job!"

  22. Well I just learned that I have a scar (somewhere on one of my knuckles) from the location of the first-ever episode of Bar Rescue. Which was closed after a stabbing murder. And then burned down. And is still a pile of fenced-off rubble 3 years later.

  23. Watched "Kill la Kill" and it was awful. Despite positive reviews my experience was not good. It contains huge and obvious plot holes. I can stretch my suspension of disbelief so far. It had some good characters in there but the plot weighted all down like an elephant on a cardboard box.

Wednesday, 17-Feb-21 17:38:15 UTC from web
    • @adiwan Yeah, that one's much more about antics and story than plot. And fanservice. Like, to such a core extent one wonders if it's even "service" anymore, lol.

Wednesday, 17-Feb-21 21:46:22 UTC in context
    • @scribus The fanservice was the least of my problems with it. The plot is so convoluted it hurts my intelligence. Sentient alien thread accelerates the evolution of humans so they can wear clothes, Then the thread is used to make super-powered magic clothes. Then the bad guys use the thread in normal clothing to enslave/transform humanity while the good guys have also thread on their bodies. Then the master plan is to engulf the earth with the magic thread so to make it pop and burst more thread into the universe. And then the whole school thing and trying to conquer other schools is also the dumbest thing in the series. Where is the military? Where are state officials? It's certainly concerning when there are huge military-grade fights all over the country without any consequences. My suspension of disbelief can handle only a limited amount of BS before it turns against the piece of fiction.

Borderlands 2 is fun right up until I either run up against the usual "What am I stuck on, why am I not running, why can't I even jump, if I'm not supposed to be here how did I even get in and why can't I get out again" antics of every FPS ever... That, or the keyboard-as-controller issues of "I wanted my knife, not to throw a grenade at my own feet..." !vgp

    • @scribus True story: I grew up pretty much entirely on PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360, so when I finally got a PC that could properly handle video games I was immediately put off by the keyboard controls and plugged in an Xbox One controller instead. To this day it's really hard for me to play shooters the "real" way.

Monday, 08-Feb-21 08:48:18 UTC in context
    • @mrmattimation I had had an NES, GameBoy, SNES, Atari XE, and Sega Genesis before we got our first "real" family computer, a 486 running Windows 3.11. My parents declared that the computer was therefore not for games, unless they were educational. I believe I would go on to N64, 3DS, and Xbox 360 before trying WASD-anything.
