!calgary Well, that was an absolute blast. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the meetup tomorrow. Mom's flying home from Vegas.. uh, right now, actually, so I should be able to get a ride.
-
@puzzlemint been a while since i've seen you 'round these parts. hows it going?
-
@madflavors I've been.. relatively active since the !calgarybronies group made the nightly roundup last month. The going is good. Started school officially, and it's going pretty great. Went to the !calgarybronies BBQ today and it was also pretty great.
-
@puzzlemint mmm BBQ good to hear your having a good times
-
-
-
!calgary The BBQ is THIS afternoon? As in, this afternoon this afternoon?
-
@puzzlemint !calgary That's so strange, everypony keeps saying that. But the answer is yes! It's this afternoon!

@conjure Those customs are really cool! I particularly love the Eleventh Doctor Dr.Whoof! Bow ties are cool. As are fezzes.
-
@conjure Photobucket keeps getting worse and worse every time I use it. It was so much better a few years ago.
-
@puzzlemint Photobucket was never good.

New Batgirl is okay, but not as awesome as it was for the past 2 years. Still mangoesed at this DC reboot BS. Cass & Steph 4 Life! !cbp

!calgarybronies Anyone out there know a simple transit way to get from SAIT to the BBQ? Live in Calgary for school only, don't know my way around that well. Thnx! <3
Wednesday, 07-Sep-11 04:50:36 UTC from web-
@pseudoartiste Assuming I don't have a huge amount of homework to do, I can probably stick around 'til 5 to go searching with you. I did mean to warn you, though, that I'm not taking the bus home, so I haven't done any research into departure timetables. It would be best if you could arrange a ride home with someone else who's attending -- I'm told that !calgarybronies are pretty good about giving people a lift when they need it, so ask around. If you can't, the #40 will still take you back to North Hill and you can get home from there, but depending on when service ends, it may mean having to leave the BBQ at, like, 8-ish.
-
@puzzlemint Thanks SO much for the info! I dont think me or Tay (my elusive friend) can meetup tomorrow. :( Sorry but we kind of just had some major school/residency issues dropped in our laps. Sorry to miss you, and I hope we'll see you on Fri!
-
@pseudoartiste Definitely see you then if you can make it. Sorry to hear about your school issues, too. Hope things work out okay.
-
-
So I forgot my keys in my locker. So, once I got home from school and realized this, I had to go back to school and get my keys, then go back home again. Three. And a Half. HOURS. I haven't had anything to eat since 11. !college !calgary
-
@puzzlemint *is flinging you sympathy and sprinkles!*
-
-
!calgarybronies Am SO excited for BBQ on Friday, am making complicated transit plans as we speak!! I will brave the buses for my bronies.

@pseudoartiste Remind me to find out where the closest 308 stop to SAIT is. At least, I think it was the 308 for Bowness... !calgary
-
@puzzlemint Do you understand this crazy transit madness?! LOL! Would it be weird if I asked you if a friend and I could maybe go along with you to the BBQ? We are not from Calgary and a little hesitant about busing. (we could end up anywhere! O-O) No prob if is not cool with you :)
-
-
Before I forget to mention it again, first day of classes at SAIT.. went better than high school ever did. Feeling pretty good about that. !college !calgary
-
@puzzlemint You go to SAIT?! That's cool, I am going to ACAD right now! :)
-
@puzzlemint ya SAIT is a great place, feels like you are actually learning things there rather then just being fed information like HS
-
-
!calgarybronies WHAT no...no comments on the new design? D:

!Calgarybronies Anybody here getting dead island tomorrow? Wait. Does anybody here play videogames?
Tuesday, 06-Sep-11 03:13:50 UTC from web-
@phoenixswift My mainstays are RPGs and platformers, but I also like adventure games and strategy. I'm very much a RPG junkie anyway.
-
@johnmcdowell If I wanted to play Dead Rising 2, I'd play Dead Rising 2.
-
@ladestitute Ah yes, RPGs, I forgot that one somehow, always fun, those.

It only took four full days, but the tech guys finally got my heatsink reinstalled and brought my computer back. If that sounds like a ridiculous amount of time, keep in mind that the original connectors for the heatsink were both inadequate and broken. It took two days just to find the appropriate parts to properly secure the heatsink, then they spent two days running rigorous tests, and wouldn't bring the computer back until they were satisfied that it wouldn't overheat, so it's probably in better condition now than it was when I first handed it over.
-
@puzzlemint What was wrong with it in the first place?
-
@puzzlemint mmmm, 50' cat cable. Sounds like fun
-
-
God, now I have to get used to having a real keyboard again.
-
@puzzlemint ha i suppose that's a good thing

Dear internet, if you're going to try to put people down with your logic, it might be a good idea to not put "just saying" on the end of the explanation, nor treat the people you're trying to influence as if they're always 100% EVERYTHING TO THE EXTREME. Everyone's got their grey areas... Or at least most of the people I've spoken to.

@leonkfox Who on earth ever said Steam was a flawless saint of digital distribution? Steam has plenty of flaws. The fact that you continue to put words in my mouth is the best example I can think of of a one-sided viewpoint. And I already explained the pricing thing. Publishers charge less than retail on digital services -> Retailers lose sales -> Retailers stop stocking the publisher's games in protest -> Publisher loses a lot more money than they gain through digital distribution. In the current market, digital prices are controlled by retail stores.
Sunday, 04-Sep-11 15:10:07 UTC from web-
@puzzlemint I didn't say that YOU SPECIFICALLY SAID THAT, that's what I hear from countless PC fanboys and people who are convinced digital distribution is flawless and is the future. And who's putting words in whose mouth again?
-
@puzzlemint You know what? We're going to just have to agree to disagree, otherwise we'll be here forever.
-
-
If the industry ever goes all digital and this bullcherries becomes the standard I will just focus on collecting older games, I refuse to buy into it. !vgp

@musicssound You'd think that but apparently the company who made it didn't care enough to do so. And this isn't even an old copy either! It was part of a bundled re-release along with Drake's Fortune and a Tomb Raider game. Basically, they intentionally sold the public a shoddy broken game they have no intention of fixing. !vgp

@tenure Well, that's just like them, ain't it.

@hoit21 Deathclaws are a whole lot easier once you have the Dart gun to cripple their legs. Glowing ones are a dole
-
@hoit21 It's a game changer; it doesn't do much damage, but the auto crippling of both legs cuts the target's speed in half, making it easier to run and gun big threats like Deathclaws
-
@hoit21 You can get the schematics for it from the Head of State quest, or the shop in Tenpenny Tower
-
@puzzlemint Well I hope you can get a ride home then, I'm sure someone can help you out. Ponyfolk are friendly. Where you going to school at? I'm going back to U of C in Sept, even though I just finished my undergrad. Woohoo old >_<

@vanillabelle SAIT. Just had orientation today. Classes start on the 6th.

@puzzlemint i know where country hills is. i could give you a lift home. i have to take my brother out to airdrie so it will be on my way. i plan on leaving the bbq between 9:30 to 10 at the lateset. is that ok with you?
Friday, 02-Sep-11 23:50:10 UTC from web-
@conjure Beats having to leave at 8:30 to catch the bus. Cheers.
-
-
@puzzlemint Where are you coming from in order to get to the BBQ? I don't drive but the best I could offer is that if you meet me in Dalhousie we could split a cab. But there are some generous driving bronies in the group so I'm sure you can get help either way!
Friday, 02-Sep-11 23:35:30 UTC from web-
@vanillabelle >I'm still taking the bus TO the bbq, I'm just thinking it would be nice to get another way home. || If I had money for even half a cab, I'd probably save it for school supplies. And by school supplies, I mean probably ponies.

-
@puzzlemint hey what part of the city do you live in? i have the day off and i am offering rides to the bbq so i may be able to give you a lift. i am already giving yodelerty a ride.
Friday, 02-Sep-11 23:07:19 UTC from web-
@conjure I'm still taking the bus TO the bbq, I'm just thinking it would be nice to get another way home. Anywho, I'm staying in Country Hills, about half an hour northeast of Bowness, according to google. http://oat.nu/627y6
-

Funny thing about a city the size of !calgary, it never really occurred to me that it would take nearly a full hour to get home from school by transit. If I wanted to get home from Bowness by transit, I'd have to leave by, like, 8:30. I may need a ride.

Just ran a speed test on the internet I'll be using for the next month. 1 MB down, .2 MB up. Not exactly on the same level as the 50/5 I'm used to. It also means a 30 GB download limit, but at 1 MB down I don't think that's going to be an issue.
