grape me for wanting people to understand or care
Saturday, 27-Oct-18 19:01:10 UTC from web-
@noooooooo It's certainly not the we don't care. I think I can speak for all of us in saying, we care. However, you are demonstrating a certain amount of immaturity over this. The mods of that community can do whatever they feel like doing. It's there "club" so to speak. You had no right to be there, they allowed you to be there and participate. You can't ask for justice to be served when no injustices were committed.

@lizziecloudbee You're not paying for the service, why are you complaining?
Jonathan Chouinard likes this. -
@oracle Because I wanted to use a site? I wanted others to be able to use a site? These people complain that people are leaving their site?

@oracle grape me for wanting justice, I guess

@adiwan I learned a while ago to never use liquid cash to pay for expensive things. If you can find financing with a low apr, do that, keep your capital invested, than you only have to pay the difference between your invested apr and the loan apr.
Jonathan Chouinard likes this. -
@oracle I saved up some money that I can pay the kitchen all at once. I'd not pay for anything on credit if I don't have to.

I don't know if this is legal or not, but I don't pay taxes "correctly". I filled out my W2 so that I pay 10$ on each paycheque. I invest what was supposed to be paid (along with other investments) When April rolls around, I file my taxes and pay what it owed, but it's essentially less because of the return on the investment.

I keep vodka in my freezer so when I want/need to cool an ambient beverage I can cool it in under a minute. Super convenient, would recommend.

@scribus A friend of mine did a test at school in the computer class and one task was to write a simple program on paper. He wrote everything in "one line". His teacher said that if there were any mistakes he'd take double the penalty points. Fortunately everything was perfect, both syntactically and semantically, and the program did what was demanded.

I love how we live in a world where the quality of software can cost people their lives, and yet people still don't want software engineers to be legitimate, licensed engineers. Oh well, I guess that's good for me, right? I can build crappy system and not be held criminal liable, heck yes!

Every year, the cost of life saving medications rises at the same time insurance cost rise or benefits fall. Private healthcare and pharmaceuticals have been nothing but a burden on the American people.

If last mile shipping is so expensive and difficult to manage, why then does UPS not offer an option to schedule parcel pick up times at their carrier facilities? Really, why can't I do that? Customers already paid to have it delivered last mile, so why not allow it?

Why was I ever optimistic about autonomous vehicles if we can't even expect people to be capable of using and feeling cruise control?

@oracle Using and feeling comfortable with, sorry. I know a few people who feel that cruise control s dangerous and takes control away from them. I was hopeful that younger people would be more open to the idea, but many of my classmates are strongly opposed to the idea.

My honest opinion is that the general public should not be instructed with ability to drive, or at the very least, the privilege should require stricter testing standards. People (humans as a whole) are not as intelligent as we perceive ourselves to be. We are stupid, dull, prideful, creatures that make terrible judgments at the expense of all others.

@oracle I definitely think the standards for piloting a kinetic bombardment device through populated areas should be more stringent, as well.

@adiwan Oh boy, that sucks. The temps in my area have been hovering around 33, but the humidity is usually only 15%. Last week though, the humidity was at or above 55% the whole time and it sucks because I don't own an A/C
Jonathan Chouinard likes this. -
@oracle I don't have A/C either (except for the car). https://i.imgur.com/l28HtKb.png At work it's similar (also no A/C) but I don't have any thermometers there. It won't be any cooler in the next days. On Monday it'll be 35°C. I guess I'll be going earlier from work to continue sweating at home.

@scribus Do you know about grounding techniques and how to use them?
Jonathan Chouinard likes this. -
@oracle Yeah, and I usually do OK with them, I guess, lately... But today hit too hard and fast to even try, I was at 98% and tunnel-visioning and I just absolutely HAVE to get this done RIGHT NOW because otherwise I am a GORRAM QUITTER and WHAT WOULD MY MOTHER THINK... :-/ Still working at it. I have a small sand timer for periodic meditative breaks. But none of that makes the office less of a constant and absolute press, none of it actually fixes the problem, all of it starts feeling like a complete waste of time, and sometimes even trying to relax feeds the rage.

@oracle I'm not a fan of a standing desk. I was offered one with an electrically adjustable plate but I rejected that. Also if I had one I couldn't use that because the whiteboard is right next to my desk. The whiteboard would interfere when raising the desk. Besides that all the cables are too short.
