Apparently, Google's weather includes options for degrees in Celsius, Fahrenheit and ..... Kelvin? Why tho?

@oracle Because America will one day move away from Fahrenheit, but damned if it will be to Celsius!!
-
@scribus But, the Kelvin scale is based off Celsius?

@oracle It really is astounding how much less than the sum of its parts the human polity really is. Probably something to do with the constant infighting neutralizing potential and wasting energy and resources.

I don't understand why people who've been under general anesthetics would ever continue to believe that consciousness is not generated by their body and consequently does not and can not exist after death. I mean, seriously, youv'e experienced the nothingness!

@awl I thought it was good. By the end of it though I felt "Star Warsed Out" which is why I never bothered to watch Solo

Wasn’t bad at all. A little long in the tooth but Attack of the Clones was worse by a country mile. The fight scenes were pretty awesome, and Yoda moved like a puppet.

Go is the absolute best programing language, change my mind.
Friday, 29-Jun-18 19:20:20 UTC from web- Jonathan Chouinard likes this.
-
@oracle Well... Then I'd say that I prefer C++. It is finicky and hard to understand sometimes but it's the most universal language with tons of library support and has the best template system and supports multi-inheritance. I program mostly with C# and I constantly fall into unsupported language features of C# that I wish it had.
Jonathan Chouinard likes this. -
@adiwan That’s a fair argument. The support and libraries are unmatched by far. It’s the downsides you mentioned that are the strengths of Go. C++ has stood against the test of time.

I’m actually quite sad about that. I like being wrong, I actually genuinely enjoy being corrected on deep rooted principle. I even enjoy when people correct my misconceptions now because it means I won’t continue to repeat them. In fact, I’m glad people care enough to correct me.

@oracle What is level one? (Here are 220V 50Hz)
Jonathan Chouinard likes this. -
@adiwan In the US, the lowest electrical outlet is 120V at 60HZ +- 15%. This is referred to as level one charging and it takes a LONG time to charge a car like this. Level one is usually the generic term for plugging a car into an outlet with no extra steps. In Europe with the slightly higher voltage, the charge rate is slightly faster, roughly 500 W/h per hour faster
-
@oracle Aaah. Well then... I don't think it's possible. I live in an apartment building with parking opportunities on the other side of the street (40m), or nearer, over the sidewalk (8m). I don't think I can lead an extension cable to either places.

@adiwan I can never bring myself to purchasing consoles, but when I do, it's always right before the new one is announced. Every time, I jinx it every single time.
-
@oracle Just have more patience. I wait a few years after a console was released and buy its predecessor. It's the sweet spot for having a console in good condition, getting a few games bundled in, a low price, and a lot of people trying to get rid of their machine for a new one. I miss the hype and the excitement of new releases but I rather have other people having their good/bad experiences with games first and I pick them up later.
