  1. Rally Germany this weekend! If you're not clapping your hands like a retarded walrus and exclaiming 'rally rally rally rally rally rally!' over and over again in a high pitched voice, you're probably not me. I'm sure rally's wrapped up, but I'm waiting till the torrents show up so I can watch it before I get any news. http://ur1.ca/4y50h

  3. @redenchilada Hecks yeah! That game was awesome. I still have my Dreamcast with a copy of it. Though it doesn't match the freakin' loudness of the arcade version.

  5. @leonkfox The Ultimate Fighter on SpikeTV is like watching mangoesty high school students. Imagine if all the thick skulled alpha males at your school were put under one roof, and knew they were being filmed. That's what that show is. The UFC is a blight unto martial arts. It makes it look like it's this hardcore badassery guitar rock thing, when really martial arts is more like, lounge jazz.

  6. I think I am going to buy some colour film and try some long exposure night photography.

  7. All I do in TF2 is play Medic. The achievement, Head of the Class, complete a round with every class? Four years, and I'm 1/9. I didn't even know how to call for a Medic till like, last month. Sometimes I'll jokingly hop on another class, usually Spy, Sniper, or Engineer, the classes you have to know really well to play, just for poops and giggles, to make my clan go 'God damn it Ed you're horrible, stop not playing Medic!', then I'll hop back on Medic. Lately I've been wanting to play TF2 by myself, learn a class offline, then take it online, play outside my clan, get awesome at it, then hop to it in one of my clan games. Everyone will go 'God damn it Ed no Soldier for you!', then I start rocking cherries at it, and they'll be all wtf is going on?

  13. @mrbrown Yeah, even the single player in Halo 2 is awesome. I might snag it on PC, see if anyone still plays it online, either via dedicated servers, P2P, or Hamachi servers.

  14. @celestiaforequestria Haha, crazy enthusiasm? I guess that's a good thing. I can go off about it really well and a lot, 'cause I have a lot of passion for what I do. I give myself seven years 'cause orchestration school is two years, then I'll give myself three years to get some clout, and then I'll start pushin' for the big gigs. I give myself seven years to get my first gig recording an orchestra, it's a very fair timeframe.

  15. @gear Yep. Black and white is about light and contrast, and photography is about the capture of light. Even the word photography translates to 'drawing with light'.

  16. @mrbrown Mleh. Just sold my 360. The Halo games and Soul Calibur IV are the only games I'll miss. Started replaying Halo 2 recently, and was like 'Oh yeah, that's right, this game is really freakin' awesome!'

  17. @celestiaforequestria Oh, I'm not dicking around in this industry. I'm not going to rot, no way, I'm not going to sit around and be content with where I am. I'm going to be someone in this industry. I'm good at this mangoes, I'm better at what I do than most people ever will be. I'm not going to sit on my talent. I'm going to record the Kitchener Waterloo-Orchestra, the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. There's no one in the world who wants to do that more than me, and there are very few people out there pushing as hard as I am to make it happen. I went broke going to school for engineering, and I'm going to go in debt to go to school for orchestration. Give me seven years and I'll be recording orchestras, look up the name Edward Mowinckel in seven years, and I will have one the best portfolios in this industry.

  18. If my professional website weren't so rubbish I might redesign it, but as it is now, it's embarrassingly bad, and if I were to redo it, it'd just be a long winded 'f-you' to Dayton, Ohio for having such a bananasty entitled music market full of cockstain artists who think I'm a piece of grapes for doing my job, going to venues, shaking hands, and telling them who I am and what I do. I don't get to say that papayas a lot, 'cause I am a businessman, I can't say things like that in a public venue where people know who I am. Ya all don't know who I am, so I can say 'Screw the cherriesty entitled kiwi musicians and their cherriesty bands in Dayton Ohio. After listening to your records it's clear you don't know the first thing about engineering and you probably wonder why no one wants to listen to your records'. I really want to start mangoes with bands who look at me like I'm a leper for trying to assimilate into the community.

  19. @gear Oh, huh. I guess Kodak does make some 120 film. I know dick all about shooting colour, it's not my thing. If someone still made 25 iso colour film, I'd be interested in it for long night exposures, but if I'm gettin' grainy, I really want black and white. Black and white works for what I shoot, too. My pictures wouldn't be the same if they were in colour, heck, I don't think they'd even look good if they were in colour.

  20. When I start talking about something in which I'm well versed, and people tune me out, I don't think they're doing it because they're disinterested, or to be a dick, but they're doing it to save themselves. I will drop a glut of information in 90 seconds that I assume the populace takes for granted, but they don't, at all. And people just tune me out, 'cause if they don't, and they remember what I'm telling them, it's just going to push out the kiwi they need to know. It's going to fill up their brain and push out their knowledge about driving, or skiing, or whatever it is people do.

  21. @gear Even medium format is nutty, check this shot out; http://www.flickr.com/photos/30029820@N03/5402236666/sizes/l/in/photostream/ I know it's a low resolution picture and it's been scanned, but it's super sharp. I really wanna get into medium format photography. 35mm is dirt cheap, but medium format cameras are the opposite of cheap. At least Ilford is still making 120 film, and it only comes out to about 50 cents per exposure.

Sunday, 21-Aug-11 06:18:27 UTC from web in context
  22. @gear Yeah. Have you ever seen the resolution of a 4x6 negative? It's nutty. You can not match the resolution you get from 24 square inches of silver halide atoms. I've been wanting to get into enlarging, I'd need to buy an enlarger and somehow devise a darkroom, but I know if I did, hipsters would totally buy framed prints of this shot; http://www.doctormowinckel.com/photo/?portfolio=ashtray-2 then ask what Hipstamatic filter I used to make it.

  23. @gear Some of those are pretty gewd, d00d! You OBVIOUSLY like shooting with a shallow depth of field. So do I. Give me 1.8 and I will use it! I just started a photo site thingy, it can be seen here; http://www.photo.doctormowinckel.com/ Some developing anomalies, but some of the shots are good. And I don't shoot colour, so I can't recommend colour film. Lately I've been wanting to get into medium format photography, was looking at $200 Minolta TLR today, really wanna snag it.

Sunday, 21-Aug-11 05:55:17 UTC from web in context
  24. @gear You don't need a darkroom to develop film. Google developing film without a darkroom, you can buy everything you need for about $50. And yeah, for me, taking pictures in digital is just taking a picture, but film, you make a picture. That picture is yours and you own it, nothing can take away from you, and that's an awesome feeling. Do you have a portfolio anywhere online?

Sunday, 21-Aug-11 05:38:06 UTC from web in context
  25. @mrbrown Hello. I am talking about cameras. I do that a lot. What are you doing?

Sunday, 21-Aug-11 05:29:38 UTC from web in context
  26. @gear I do like those AE-1s, they're freakin' tanks. Those cameras can double as a hammer. Do you shoot colour, or black and white, or both?

Sunday, 21-Aug-11 05:29:09 UTC from web in context
  27. @gear If I'm shooting something that isn't a throwaway shot for a social networking site, I'm shooting film. Not because I think it's better than digital. Film isn't better than digital, and digital isn't better than film, but because film forces you to be a better photographer. When you have 36 exposures, you really think about your shot. And the anticipation that builds when you take a shot you know is awesome, when you develop it, take it out of the reel, hang it up, see it, and it looks good, that is way more satisfying than chimping your shot on a digital camera.

  28. @gear 3200 and 400. I usually end up pushing the 3200 to 6400 'cause low light candid and street photography is what I'm into. 400 goes in my daytime/evening body. I have a third body I'm not using that I might start rolling 125 into. I've yet to do it 'cause I never shoot during the day, it'd take me like six months to burn through all 36 exposures.
