  1. @rainbowsdash The only thing I can think of would be pushing to get Putin out of office, but since Russia is on the UN security council I don't think we'd be able to do that. Sanctions are in order, sure, but it really won't stop the Russian leaders to do what they're doing.

  2. @rainbowsdash In hindsight, our economy would have been better of if we stopped them, I mean, the Oil embargo WAS a result of our letting them do that.... XD OH and the inhumane treatment and war is also our fault... XD

  3. @rainbowsdash forget I said that

  4. @rainbowsdash It has been done before. Putin is playing for a certain crowd, and that crowd expects him to do what he's doing. The UN pressuring him won't do him any harm.

  5. @rainbowsdash Yes and yes. Supplying them with weapons without the capability of hitting MIGs and the like would have been pointless. Osama and the Bushs were long time friends, so there's really no credible way to say "we weren't aware of this at all".

  12. @rainbowsdash Let's bring up a more accurate analogy. Let's say somebody from Mexico comes over into Texas, kidnaps three teenagers, and murders them. Are we going to go to war over that?

  13. @rainbowsdash Afghanistan is an example that comes to mind. Back in the '80s USA was supplying them with all kinds of weaponry to cause trouble and weaken the USSR. Funnily enough, one of the leaders that was rising to prominence among those militias was Osama Bin Laden.

  14. @rainbowsdash There's a difference between what /should/ be done and what /can/ be done. Sanctioning that behavior will effectively strangle three of the world's biggest economies.

  15. @rainbowsdash Just one example: we're funding the military of Israel, which is currently bombarding the Gaza Strip in the very under-equipped Hamas with missiles.

  17. @rainbowsdash You've missed at least 50 years of international history.

  18. @rainbowsdash And we're saying you can't do that without pretty much halting the world's economy.

  19. @rainbowsdash Right but the US is doing exactly the same thing as Russia. As is China.

  20. @rainbowsdash The UN won't do anything. The UN is the most useless international organization there is.

  21. @rainbowsdash the way to go is to put more economic sanctions on russia and to publicly blame them for what they have done.

  22. @rainbowsdash I'm not saying they aren't responsible, I'm saying that if you're going to start sanctioning countries for giving separatist factions weapons, a third of the world's countries will have to be sanctioned.

  23. @rainbowsdash Really hoping you aren't suggesting war, because that would papayas the economy.

  24. @rainbowsdash Hey, that's a common thing in today's world. Many big powers do that to avoid the political cost of open war. Russia, USA, China, and quite a few others.

  26. @rainbowsdash I hope I didn't come off as insensitive. I was just trying to make a joke about scoot's wording, not to make light of a tragedy. I do honestly understand how much of a loss it is.
