  2. @starshine Same, and back button wouldn't let me submit again -_-;; Government needs better servers all around.

  3. @starshine There's no VA earthquake in the recent quakes listings to add my "I felt it" hurrdurr to, and if I try to report unknown event it times out. *shrug*

  4. @cabal Confound that site, I can't figure out what I'm doing!

  5. So I'm roughly 500 mi away from Richmond VA and felt it, and I know someone roughly 380 mi away who had to prevent their monitor from falling over. 5.8 must be rather big.

  10. @starshine I am mildly obsessed with them. I'd love to be a cartographer, but don't have the skills and my obsession with accuracy and perfection would mean that I'd never get anything done (I have drawn a few fantasy world maps before...)

  11. @starshine Just sayin', it only takes 4 hrs to drive E-W across the state. So when we're discussing dividing the state up into tidy little quadrants, Cleveland is very much in the north-central part of the northeast quadrant, whereas Sandusky straddles the line between northeast and northwest, causing a feedback loop that will destroy the universe.

  12. @starshine Also of note, Youngstown is also an hour and a half away from Cleveland [TheMoreYouKnow(tm)]

Tuesday, 23-Aug-11 16:42:31 UTC from web in context
  13. @starshine An hour and a half away is "right next to"? Are we in TX? (I'll give you Lorain, which is halfway between Cleveland and Sandusky and yet part of the Cleveland metro area... then things turn rural for that second half...)

  17. @starshine Your mindmap is quite skewed... Directly north of Cbus would be more like Sandusky. Cleveland-Akron-Canton-Youngstown region is NE (and Ashtabula up there in the corner thinkin' it's part of PA).

  25. @fnordly Mac OS X is a highly polished, consumer-friendly unix derivative. In being such, it lacks both the power of Unix *and* the usability of classic Mac. I will *never* forgive Apple.

  27. @eaglehooves You know Cooke Rd through the middle of there is upscale housing, right? Property values of the residential districts don't really start dropping until you get south of North Broadway. Even then, things don't really get "ghetto fabulous" until you get south of Hudson. Don't confuse the large Somalian community in the area for ghetto trash, even though they have a habit of acting like it :p (Urban Studies was my major when I attended Cleveland State, so if I'm boring you with uninteresting babble, just let me know and I'll shup.)

  28. @eaglehooves PS also of note, both Polaris and Easton are somehow within Columbus city limits. The limits are all screwed up around Columbus. Just look at this: http://oat.nu/w701j

Friday, 19-Aug-11 17:14:16 UTC from web in context
  29. @eaglehooves That's more a problem of history and economic exploitation than class. Morse *was* the upscale shopping district, complete with Northland mall and cookie-cutter copies of every chain store. Then they built Easton. Northland closed. Then they built Polaris. Everything else closed. Rent cheapened so the building owners could get *somepony* to at least use the space, and dollar stores and pawnshops popped up. Same thing happens everywhere as time moves on and the fickle want things shiny and new. Northern Lights (Cleveland & Innis) still has an amazing GameStop that's somehow better stocked then the other 3 close by, and there's a really good Asian grocery, an awesomely large thrift store, and BuyBacks (which used to be better, sadly) at Cleveland & 161. There was a really good game store *in* Westerville at Shrock & State, but that went out years ago. I can't really think of anything else worth going to within its limits at this point...
