@scribus Well... My grandparents live 600km away. During these times I don't want that my mother uses a train, and I could see my grandparents as I haven't seen them for quite a while.
In the past my family drove to my grandparents 4 times a year and it took us 8 to 10 hours (slower car, border passing, crappier roads). -
@scribus that's the thing about whenever i see something like this, i can never find anything about it on local news because i live in the DC-Baltimore media market, so, anything that happens here is immediately overshadowed by two different mass shootings

@scribus might finally be time to stop talking to myself, heh. I’ll probably be in touch eventually.
-
@scribus who knew that an actual lynching captured on video would have led to a conviction? Not I, the American.
-
@scribus Never watched it. I’ll check it out.

@scribus just imagining kicking the cherry out of a bodega owner who’s late on his payments, and then having him Venmo you the cash

@scribus Had to have the police take a guy home because he was incredibly drunk, was just eating deli meat that he took off the shelves, and then fell asleep underneath a bench in the store. Problem is he lived really close by, so after the cops left he just… walked back over here and was back in literally half an hour later.

@scribus I don’t have much else to add that others have already said better, but if I were a gun advocate (well, more than I already am) I’d be absolutely furious that the kid wasn’t locked up on at least the gun charge. Taking an illegal gun to a protest across state lines and then killing three guys with legally acquired guns really undercuts a lot of pro-gun arguments you usually hear.

@scribus My whole life has been a series of "Is this the hill you want to die on?" scenarios, always responding with, "F*** yes" and it nearly almost always ending up favorably.

@scribus Tire fenders are practically standard here as well as half-enclosed chain guards. Also a rack is basically standard, except for mountain and racing bikes. I just looked up and I found some after-market fully-enclosed chain guards. Only "Holland bikes" have the fully-enclosed bike chain guard out of the box. I guess I never put that much attention to that feature.

@scribus WE papayaED UP

@scribus Well... It's not fun when all the stitches by hand are crooked, uneven, and take too much time.
-
@scribus Agree! I have also something to add: When grocery shopping I hate when the cashier asks me if I have their app or any member cards.

@scribus The county sheriff would probably help Myers find teenagers to kill tbh, they're worse than useless.
-
@scribus Glenn Youngkin for his part has tried to distance himself from Trump and January 6th mostly because he can’t afford for the DC suburbs to turn out against him and that’s exactly what they’ll do if they think he’s too much like Trump.

@scribus This is more or less the last time in probably a while that Republicans have a shot at winning a statewide election in Virginia, historically we’ve always voted against the incumbent party no matter what but that anti-White House sentiment, while not totally gone (Biden won the state by ten points but polling shows the race as a toss-up) is kind of diminishing (we used to see swings of like twenty points, now it’s closer to five) and by 2025 it’ll probably be gone entirely, so this entire campaign has just been a big last-ditch effort to maybe hold Richmond one last time. Nothing is too low if you’re going out anyway.

@scribus But anyway the kiwiing moron's Gmail address and phone number were both on the flier, so I shot him an email where I point-by-point expressed concern with just about everything he put on there, essentially challenging him to try to win me over since he claims to want to represent ALL Virginians.
-
@scribus At first I had assumed it was part of a voter intimidation project. Here in Virginia, the GOP has been handing out fliers to voters in Democratic areas and who have participated in Democratic primaries telling them that their voter records are "public" and that they've been voting for the wrong candidates and should stay home on Tuesday if they're going to keep voting wrong. This guy used a different tactic: he didn't use the word "Republican" anywhere on his flier and claims to be my neighbor which, Jesus Christ, I hope not.

@scribus It helps to keep financing my monthly dose of comics. The raise is about as much as I pay for comics. And I read a ton of comics.

@scribus WTF if true. In the United States of Gunmerica this sounds more likely than in any other part of the world. The neglect of safety measures around guns is baffling beyond reason.
-
@scribus Usually there is someone responsible for the props, inventory, and blank ammo (without bullet).

@scribus WTF

@scribus What has he done?
-
@scribus At least it isn’t a friend this time. That was super not fun.
-
@scribus Y'know, I *say* that, and so today.... :-/ lol

@scribus Oh, also, if he WERE “reinstated” he technically would be allowed to run for a second full term because the only method possible for “reinstatement” involves Republicans winning back the House, making him Speaker, and somehow winning 17 extra Senate seats with a map where they’ll be lucky if they get three, then impeaching/removing Biden-Harris simultaneously for ?????, which obviously would not be possible until 2023, when the next Congress is sworn in. So long as he is sworn in on January 21st or later, he would be allowed to run for another four year term since finish that term would bring him to just under the constitutional limit of ten years. If that’s his plan, it’s an incredibly contrived and unrealistic plan, but it is technically a plan nonetheless.
-
@scribus if he were actually running for re-election he probably would have filed the paperwork already. There’s nothing stopping him and for 2020 he filed on his first day in office. Instead he’s registered a PAC which can collect money for any number of purposes besides presidential campaigns (legal fees). The “plan” is to make as much money as possible while sabotaging the national GOP out of spite for not being more supportive of him while he was President. He requested a while back that his supporters send money to his MAGA PAC, instead of the other Republican-aligned funds that help Republicans in Congress get elected.
