@scribus Yeah... I understand. California. Palms and barely any falling leaves and constantly warm weather (as in not freezing). In Germany there is a rule of thumb that Summer tires should be used from Easter to October. There are tires that work for all year with an appropriate profile but they are not ideal but usable. Driving the Winter tires in the Summer can be devastating due to the softer rubber mixture. On a very hot day at higher speeds they can degrade super fast. Summer tires have the opposite problem as due to the lower temperatures they are not soft enough to ensure the necessary grip, especially with wet leaves on the ground and heavy rainfall or snow.

@scribus My father just had used a setting on the pneumatic drill higher than needed. Well... I successfully changed the tires and that's what matters. The winter will be probably warm but I don't want to risk driving with summer tires any longer as there were some frosty days this week.

@scribus When I manually tightened the screws in last year's tire change I didn't have to use my full body weight to loose them. When I manual tighten the screws they are as tight as they can get. I would say I have average arm strength but for the life of me I couldn't use the same amount of strength loosening the pneumatic drilled ones. For one screw I had to use a pipe to extend the leverage arm. This was the first time I had to use such measures.

@scribus He has a memory of a goldfish and an ego as big as Jupiter. His stubbornness and rabid followers will pull him back. Presidency two: electric vote-a-loo. The Fluffle Puff show will repeat again. As much as I have no wish for that I am emotionally preparing it as soon as possible.

@scribus I put my Cassandra mask on and I'll say it's not over yet: Trump will attempt it again in the next election.
-
@scribus The non-news has probably got more coverage so far than the wildfires in California.
-
@scribus The super power of REMEMBERING STUFF.
-
@scribus Because your sight into future is 100 % right and no one believes what you're telling?
-
@scribus Well, that, but also... http://rainbowdash.net/url/875657

@scribus it's a cos, maybe a atan, not a sin.

@scribus Overall top 8.3%! I'm more proud of the "Fun" category, which is in the top 2%. The Overall category is wishiwashi and undefined.

@adiwan @scribus Not much of a point either, since we already have metal 3D printing in the shape of 4+ axis mills. You just put in a sufficiently big piece of metal and load the 3D model to the CNC software and let it work.
Mill of hot extrusion, metal printing will stay too dangerous and expensive for domestic use for at least a few decades I think. Most homes don't even have the space to fit the machinery or the wiring to run it. -
@scribus Majority infection will be the eventual outcome, slower or quicker.
There are two ways to beat a virus: you either completely isolate every infected individual and anyone who is physically capable of contracting it for at least twice the lifespan of the virus, and I'm talking full lockdown, napalmed when opening the door; or you wait until almost the entire population has been infected and developed herd immunity, at which point new infections become very rare if the virus survives at all to mutate over following years.
Full lockdown wasn't done in time and in any case it is impossible considering the social paradigms of any western country, so the option that remains is the latter. Containment can only be reasonably used to slow spread to a rate to which the health system can handle it, but won't stop the spread, no matter how much a government insists on it. And it also vastly increases the number of deaths from existing conditions untreated due to lockdown. -
@scribus Please no

@scribus Then it's probably more of interest for you to use a stinking normal FDM 3D printer, printing a model with PLA plastic, putting it in a clay mold, burning the PLA out of the mold, and then pour your metal in the cavity. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkEYj8wtK3aEW8vSGhlB43g
-
@scribus Well... You can use a CNC/3D printer with a welder that pushes automatically a metal rod to built up the metal like a traditional FDM 3D printer, only with metal. This is a valid technique for manufacturing, however the finish is horrible. It needs an additional step with a CNC router (ideally 5-axis) to remove the unevenness of the surface.
-
@scribus HAHAHA. Sadly no 3D printer that can handle metals. I bought yet another Creality Ender 3 for 150 Eurobucks. A few of my current ones are misbehaving and I'll have then one spare and vanilla one. The others I will extensively upgrade and modify.
-
@scribus I'd say it's a creative workaround. I also could use a slightly flaky optical mouse that glitches from time to time and moves the mouse cursor slightly despite standing still.
-
@scribus suddenly remembering that the Pinkertons sued Rockstar Games over their “unflattering” portrayal in Red Dead Redemption 2.
-
@scribus man if I knew ANYTHING about Final Fantady romhacks (well, anything about Final Fantasy, really) I’d actually give my opinion. As it is I don’t even really know what a “Shinra” is.
-
@scribus There has to be some limitation beyond the obvious. I had to change the color range from linear (HDR) to gamma because it was a hard requirement for that. My developer friends are also stumped and cannot help me with educated guesses other than what I've already done.
-
@scribus i wanted to punch him for that entire debate
-
@scribus If you have an PS2 EYE-Toy you can use this as a last solution. I think a new one gives you a way better picture than a decade and a half 640x480 webcam.

@scribus The "natural" approach always has some baggage to it. If you're used to drive a lot of remote cars/planes/boats you're fine with tank controls. Some games work better using a mouse pointer to command the character to walk to (Diablo or any good Point & Click adventure). Such decisions are huge and always wrong (for some people).
-
@scribus I understand. I bought the horse asset and it came with a controller that handles all animation states and inverse kinematics for keeping the hooves on the ground and correct leg poses. It had a function to give the horse a direction to turn and move to and used that. I thought it was "natural" for inputing the direction with WASD and the horse follows that direction. A friend of mine had also problems with that and prefers a GTA1 style of "tank" control, from the perspective of the horse itself.
-
@scribus What was the problem with the controls?
-
@scribus That's a "problem". It is fun but it ain't helping. I already put 2 times the gravity onto him (the hips). Putting more would create too much friction and force making the physics more unstable.
-
@scribus now that would be no good, and also now that you’ve mentioned it it’ll always be in the back of someone’s head
